  1. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 14:10 British Summer Time 12 July 2020

    Stoke 1-0 Birmingham

At the other end, Birmingham are riding their luck. Stoke hit the woodwork for the second time in this first half.

James McClean's rasping drive strikes the crossbar.

  2. CLOSE!published at 14:08 British Summer Time 12 July 2020

    Stoke 1-0 Birmingham

This is Birmingham's best moment so far, and they should probably be level, but Gary Gardner heads straight at Adam Davies.

It came from the second phase after a corner, with Wes Harding's cross nodded to Gardner by Lukas Jutkiewicz, but the midfielder couldn't find the back of the net.

  3. Postpublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 12 July 2020

    Swansea 0-0 Leeds

Straight down the other end, Leeds striker Patrick Bamford gambles on a ball forward.

The ball drops to him as Ben Cabango can't get his feet sorted.

But Bamford's first-time half-volley is straight at Swans keeper Freddie Woodman, who punches away to safety.

The visitors' Gary Gardner is booked for a foul on Jordan Cousins. Not long later, Birmingham get forward down their right with Maxime Colin, and they have men waiting in the box, but Colin's cross is overhit and goes straight to the Stoke keeper Adam Davies.

Then Birmingham's 17-year-old midfielder Jude Bellingham is also given a booking, just catching Nick Powell slightly late. That one is arguably a little bit harsh.

  5. YELLOW CARDpublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 12 July 2020

    Swansea 0-0 Leeds

Now Leeds midfielder Mateusz Klich gets a yellow card for a mistimed challenge on Conor Gallagher.

It gives Swansea a decent angle to swing in a free-kick from the right, but Ben Cabango can't get his header on target under pressure from Whites skipper Liam Cooper.

  6. YELLOW CARDpublished at 14:03 British Summer Time 12 July 2020

    Swansea 0-0 Leeds

Leeds work their first proper sight at goal as the Swansea defence becomes somewhat ragged.

Stuart Dallas has a low shot from outside the box pushed away by home keeper Freddie Woodman.

The effort took a bit of a deflection, and it's a decent save.

Meanwhile, Swans striker Rhian Brewster has gone into the book for dissent after a decision went against hi.

Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa has been a lively presence on the touchline in the first quarter at the Liberty Stadium.

Bielsa has his trademark bucket seat with him, but he has not been in it for long.

The Argentine has been on his feet regularly trying to get messages to his players, which could be a sign of how the game has gone so far.

Swansea have played some good stuff, and have come closest to scoring through Rhian Brewster. Leeds do look menacing when they go forward, however.

  8. GREAT SAVE!published at 14:02 British Summer Time 12 July 2020

    Stoke 1-0 Birmingham

The Blues are winless in 10 league matches since winning at Barnsley in February.

They almost have a mountain to climb in this game, as James McClean turns Harlee Dean in the area and lashes a fierce strike at goal, but Lee Camp produces a strong and vital save to keep it out and keep the score at only 1-0.

  9. Postpublished at 13:58 British Summer Time 12 July 2020

    Swansea 0-0 Leeds

A seemingly harmless cross stabbed into the box by left winger Jack Harrison suddenly causes chaos in the Swansea area.

Keeper Freddie Woodman looks set to claim it, but Kyle Naughton sticks out a leg first and sends the ball into the side-netting.

That was close to creeping in at the near post.

Time for drinks at the Liberty Stadium. It's been a fairly even first half so far.

  10. Postpublished at 13:56 British Summer Time 12 July 2020

    Stoke 1-0 Birmingham

The first-half drinks break arrives with Stoke having had much the better of the play so far.

Birmingham have produced a few promising attacking moves since falling behind, but the final ball has eluded them so far, so they're yet to test keeper Adam Davies.

Swansea are passing the ball around with confidence, and Andre Ayew almost plays Rhian Brewster in on goal.

But a crucial sliding intervention from a back-tracking Luke Ayling denies the on-loan Liverpool striker a sight at goal.

    Stoke 1-0 Birmingham

This scoreline lifts Stoke above Birmingham in the as-it-stands table, both four points above the relegation zone.

That's why Danny Batth's opening goal is so important.

    Stoke 1-0 Birmingham

Stoke look confident, much more like the Potters team that won 4-0 at home to Barnsley eight days ago than the Potters team that lost 5-0 at Leeds on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Birmingham's co-caretaker bosses Craig Gardner and Steve Spooner are deep in conversation on the touchline.

  14. Postpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 12 July 2020

    Swansea 0-0 Leeds

Leeds haven't won away at Swansea since the late, great Don Revie was in charge.

The last time the Whites came away from the Swans with all three points was in April 1964, en route to winning the old Second Division title.

The Yorkshire club have had five trips to Swansea since then, drawing two of those games and losing the other three.

A win this afternoon would mean Leeds would require a maximum of four points to return to the Premier League - but the game remains goalless after 15 minutes.

And, it's safe to say, this has been coming! Stoke have the opening goal to boost their survival hopes.

Nick Powell's cross from the right goes all the way across the penalty area and is bundled home at the far post by Danny Batth.

Lee Camp will be disappointed he didn't keep that one out. It appeared to go under his body.

  16. Postpublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 12 July 2020

    Stoke 0-0 Birmingham

Birmingham's 18-year-old defender Nico Gordon is making his first start for the club this afternoon. He's slotted in on the left of a back three, which is technically a back five when the Blues are without the ball, with Maxime Colin at right wing-back and Wes Harding at left wing-back.

Gordon's only previous three minutes of first-team football came as a late substitute at the end of their 3-3 draw with Hull on 27 June.

The visitors' defence is busy at the moment though, as Stoke come forward again. This time, Tyrese Campbell snatches at a shot from the edge of the box, on the right, and misses to the right of goal, a yard or two wide.

Moments later, Gordon stands up really well to stop Campbell.

  17. Postpublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 12 July 2020

    Swansea 0-0 Leeds

Leeds head coach Marcelo Bielsa is sat on his bucket on the sidelines, sipping a drink.

He'll be fairly content with his side's showing so far, although Swansea have started to come into the game after that flurry of early set pieces for the visitors.

Swans striker Rhian Brewster has just had a low effort from inside the box saved by Leeds keeper Illlan Meslier.

  18. GOOD SAVE!published at 13:41 British Summer Time 12 July 2020

    Stoke 0-0 Birmingham

Stoke have started well and Birmingham keeper Lee Camp is required to pull off a smart, two-handed save, diving to his right to keep out Nick Powell's curling effort from just outside the box.

  19. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 13:39 British Summer Time 12 July 2020

    Stoke 0-0 Birmingham

This game's first chance very nearly leads to the opening goal inside six minutes, but Sam Vokes' header clatters against the crossbar. He had jumped highest to meet Nick Powell's right-wing cross.

Leeds have started on top in south Wales.

Kalvin Phillips puts a dangerous free-kick into the Swansea box and defender Kyle Naughton has to head behind.

The midfielder then puts another good delivery in from the corner, but Patrick Bamford can't get a firm head on the ball.
