  5. 'It is just the first half'published at 20:39 British Summer Time 26 July 2020

    FT: Swansea 1-0 Brentford

Speaking to Sky Sports, goalscorer Andre Ayew said: "We need to get into the final first, I am only focused on that.

"It's good to come out here and get the goal but it is just the first half, the second half is in three days so we need to get ready for that.

"This club means a lot to me, they gave me the chance to play in the Premier League and we still have a great bond."

Swansea got their reward, it was disappointing from Ayew not to score the penalty but to bounce back with a brilliant volley has just put them ahead.

Now they've got to go to Griffin Park, it is far from over.

  8. FULL-TIMEpublished at 20:25 British Summer Time 26 July 2020

    Swansea 1-0 Brentford

That's it for a dramatic first leg of this Championship play-off semi-final.

Andre Ayew could easily have proved the villain after having his penalty saved by David Raya - but he proved to be Swansea's hero with his superb winning goal.

Brentford, meanwhile, will feel aggrieved to have had Rico Henry sent off during an eventful second half.

It's all set up for a fascinating second leg at Griffin Park on Wednesday night.

    Swansea 1-0 Brentford

After a frantic few minutes after Swansea took the lead, where it looked like the hosts wanted to add to their lead, the game has slowed down considerably.

Are Brentford content to keep it at 1-0 seeing as they're down to 10 men, or do they believe they can salvage a draw?

Meanwhile, Bees midfielder Christian Norgaard is booked for a foul on Matt Grimes.

    Swansea 1-0 Brentford

    Ian Walsh
Former Wales striker on BBC Radio Wales

Miss a penalty, who cares? What a goal from a team perspective and what individual talent from Andre Ayew.

He smashes it on the volley, top corner, keeper no chance.

  14. Postpublished at 86 mins

    Swansea 1-0 Brentford

Andre Ayew is in his element at the moment.

Everything Swansea do is going through the Ghana forward, who is linking play brilliantly.

That penalty miss feels like a long time ago now.

  15. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 84 mins

    Swansea 1-0 Brentford

Two more changes for Brentford as they aim to salvage something from this game.

Danger man Said Benrahma goes off, as does Mathias Jensen.

  17. goal

GOAL - Swansea 1-0 Brentfordpublished at 81 mins

    Andre Ayew

    What a hit!

And what a way to take the lead in such an important game.

Andre Ayew gets a Swansea attack going on the right-hand side of the Brentford penalty area and passes to Conor Gallagher, who dinks the ball to Jay Fulton.

He then lays the ball on for Ayew, who hammers the bouncing ball first-time into the top corner.

Fabulous goal, and Swansea's players and staff celebrate with gusto.

  18. Postpublished at 80 mins

    Swansea 0-0 Brentford

Swansea captain Matt Grimes tries his luck from 30 yards but it flies over the bar.

Swansea are pressing for that elusive goal, and Brentford are defending deeper and deeper as time ticks away.

  19. YELLOW CARDpublished at 78 mins

    Swansea 0-0 Brentford

It's another yellow card, this time for Swansea's Rhian Brewster for allegedly diving around a challenge from the sliding Brentford keeper David Raya.

Conor Gallagher is the first to fall in the Brentford box, then Brewster follows up and goes round Raya but then falls to the ground and is booked by referee Keith Stroud.

Was that the right call? Hard to tell at first glance.

  20. Postpublished at 75 mins

    Swansea 0-0 Brentford

Swansea have a little more than a quarter of an hour left to find a winner.

They won't get very far with shooting like that from Marc Guehi, the defender on loan from Chelsea, who blasts his 30-yard effort miles over the bar.
