There have been questions asked about how Brentford would respond after missing out on automatic promotion in agonising circumstances, but the Bees look to have put that disappointment behind them.

They have been the sharper side in the first 20 minutes, with Swansea unable to get control of the ball.

For the moment, Thomas Frank will be happier with what he has seen than Swansea counterpart Steve Cooper - even if the hosts have just threatened for the first time through Rhian Brewster.

  2. GREAT SAVE!published at 21 mins

    Swansea 0-0 Brentford

A first chance for Swansea, and it falls to Rhian Brewster.

A well-worked move on the right involving Andre Ayew and Connor Roberts sees the ball laid on for Conor Gallagher, who tees up Brewster.

The Liverpool loanee steadies himself and shoots powerfully, but David Raya beats it away.

  3. Swansea players under pressurepublished at 20 mins

Brentford are putting Swansea players under pressure every time they touch the ball. As soon as they lose possession Brentford are really quickly in the final third.

We have the first yellow card of the evening, and it goes to Swansea's former Brentford left wing-back, Jake Bidwell, for a foul on Henrik Dalsgaard.

    Swansea 0-0 Brentford

After a strong spell from Brentford, Swansea are enjoying their first bit of possession for a while.

It doesn't last long, though, with the visitors pressing them high and forcing them into mistakes.

Thomas Frank will be happy with the intensity of his Brentford side so far.

  6. Ayew makes himself heardpublished at 16 mins

Andre Ayew is not only a key player for Swansea, he is LOUD.

The Ghana forward can almost constantly.be heard screaming instructions at his team-mates or disagreeing vehemently with the referee's decisions.

  7. Postpublished at 14 mins

    Swansea 0-0 Brentford

Free-kick for Swansea in a promising position after Andre Ayew is fouled on the left-hand side of the Brentford penalty area.

It's a decent whipped cross in from Conor Gallagher but Brentford clear.

  8. Postpublished at 12 mins

    Swansea 0-0 Brentford

There has been some fake crowd noise piped into the Liberty Stadium at times since the season's resumption - but not tonight.

All you can hear is the screaming and shouting of the players and coaches, and occasionally the cries of encouragement from the stands.

It gives the game that reassuring parks football feel, as if any one of us could join in for a kickabout if we wanted.

I don't think that would go down too well, though.

  9. Postpublished at 10 mins

    Swansea 0-0 Brentford

Brentford won a corner not long after that Watkins header but it came to nothing.

The Bees have brought quite a large - and noisy - travelling contingent of club officials and directors with them.

They're cheering and hollering loudly at every opportunity.

  10. GREAT SAVE!published at 8 mins

    Swansea 0-0 Brentford

    Brentford threaten again.

Bryan Mbuemo's shot is deflected and balloons into the air, and Ollie Watkins is the first to it, flicking a header backwards towards goal.

But Erwin Mulder does well to push it away.

  11. A different atmosphere this time aroundpublished at 8 mins

    Swansea 0-0 Brentford

    Gareth Vincent
BBC Sport Wales at the Liberty Stadium

Swansea beat Nottingham Forest here the last time they were involved in the Championship play-offs, back in 2011.

Darren Pratley's brilliant late goal prompted the Liberty Stadium to erupt on what many regard as the greatest night the 15-year-old ground has seen.

What a shame, therefore, that there are no fans in attendance this evening.

The only noise on this occasion is from the players, the Brentford VIPs in one of the corporate boxes and the handful of Swansea employees who are lucky enough to be in the stands.

  12. Don't be surprised by Brentfordpublished at 8 mins

    Ian Walsh
Former Wales striker on BBC Radio Wales

Don't be surprised by how good Brentford are. When they get the ball out wide they get it into the box really quickly, a fantastic ball, and really Benrahma needs to score.

  13. Postpublished at 7 mins

    Swansea 0-0 Brentford

Both teams are happy to play their way out of defence, with each goalkeeper - Erwin Mulder and David Raya - both getting early touches of the ball.

Not much sign of the caginess and nerves you usually get in a play-off fixture.

  14. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Swansea 0-0 Brentford

Now Brentford get on the ball for the first time and they produce the game's first chance.

Mathias Jensen crosses well from the right and Said Benrahma heads wide.

You'd expect this to be the pattern of play for much of the match: two teams who like to get the ball down and play.

  15. Postpublished at 1 min

    Swansea 0-0 Brentford

Swansea have the first spell of possession and it looks like Andre Ayew has put Rhian Brewster through on goal, but the on-loan Liverpool forward is flagged offside before shooting over.

Swansea v Brentford is the first installment of the Championship play-offs' Wales v West London double-header, with Cardiff hosting Fulham tomorrow.

The Swans are getting patriotic by playing 'Yma O Hyd' (which translates as 'Still Here') at the Liberty Stadium shortly before kick-off, a popular folk song by the legendary Welsh language singer Dafydd Iwan.

Shame there's no crowd here to enjoy it...
