When Neil Harris took over at Cardiff in November 2019, a promotion push seemed a long way off.

Relegated from the Premier League last season, the Bluebirds were 14th in the table when Neil Warnock's departure paved the way for Harris to take charge.

But their form since has been impressive, with Cardiff finishing the campaign with three successive victories - over Derby, Middlesbrough and Hull - to secure their play-off place.

Yet Harris is not satisfied. He says success for Cardiff now means promotion.

Good evening from south Wales, where we have moved around 40 miles east for the second instalment of this season's Championship play-offs.

Last night Brentford crossed the Severn Bridge to face Swansea City, and returned home frustrated after Andre Ayew's thumping late goal gave Steve Cooper's team a narrow advantage going into Wednesday's semi-final second leg at Griffin Park.

Tonight all eyes are on the Welsh capital, where Cardiff City play their first leg against Fulham.

Cardiff come into the game with wind in their sails, having won six and lost only two of their nine post-lockdown games to finish fifth in the table.

But one of those defeats came at the hands of Fulham, who ended the regular season in fourth place having finished with a seven-game unbeaten run.

Will the sequence without defeat continue at the Cardiff City Stadium, or can the hosts take a lead into Thursday's return leg?

Stay with us to find out.
