  1. Curse of the commentatorpublished at 76 mins

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Wales

    I knew that was coming.

No sooner did we all decide that David Brooks wasn't fit....

    He replaces Daniel James.

My late and much beloved grandmother used to tell me to "say nothing if you've got nothing good to say".

    So....'nothing'.

  3. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 73 mins

Daryl Horgan and Sean Maguire are both on the field, replacing Robbie Brady and Shane Long.

Finally Ireland get to make some changes by choice, rather than necessity.

  4. Brooks must not be fitpublished at 72 mins

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Wales

    David Brooks can't be fit.

Surely with a game meandering towards a boring goalless draw and with Wales looking so short of ideas, you'd think they would want the Bournemouth playmaker on the field?

He was Wales' player of the year in 2019 but he's still on the bench in Dublin.

You would assume Brooks, who's been ravaged with injury in recent seasons, is still not match-fit.

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Wales

Aaron Ramsey's shot is deflected out for a corner.

    Ireland clear.

    Still 0-0.

Twenty minutes remain and it is still 0-0, can either side find a winner?

I've just cut and paste that from the Bulgaria and Finland live pages for all you know.

And in both those games, yes they could.

I'd like to see David Brooks, Wales haven't created much at all.

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 66 mins

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Wales

Neco Williams replaces his Liverpool teammate Harry Wilson and Dylan Levitt is on for Matt Smith for Wales.

  9. Postpublished at 63 mins

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Wales

Dylan Levitt and Neco Williams have been stripped and ready to come on for about five minutes.

Wales are passing the ball more sharply. It's better.

  11. Postpublished at 58 mins

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Wales

Aaron Ramsey's influence on this game is beginning to grow, as Wales look set to make some changes.

  12. Did that Shane Long miss wake you up?published at 55 mins

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Wales

It's that mid-afternoon time of the day when the body does start to flag. This second-hare fare wasn't helping matters until Shane Long's miss woke me up with a start.

  13. CLOSE!published at 54 mins

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Wales

    Well that's a chance.

Wales are caught on the counter-attack by the hosts who work the angle brilliantly and Shane Long escapes Joe Rodon's marking and has a free header, but he can't find the target and he headed over.

Easy to say from here, but that was a big opportunity.

  14. Postpublished at 51 mins

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Wales

The Republic of Ireland give the ball away twice, but Wales can't capitalise.

Seems pretty certain that if a goal comes, it will be from a mistake or a set-piece.

I would love to be more positive.

  15. Postpublished at 49 mins

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Wales

The onus is really on Ireland to make something happen, you'd say, as Wales already have six points in the group.

But Ireland are depleted by coronavirus-related withdrawals and you'd imagine disheartened by their play-off defeat on penalties.

The result has not been a brilliant spectacle.

  17. Moderate encouragement for Republicpublished at 14:58 British Summer Time 11 October 2020

HT: Republic of Ireland 0-0 Wales

    John Haughey
    BBC Sport NI

After the week the Republic have had, they may be relieved that the bleeding seemed to finally stop in the 20 minutes before half-time as they possibly edged it after Kevin Long's unfortunate injury.

Robbie Brady possibly should have scored with his curling shot before Long's replacement Cyrus Christie went close with a long-range effort.

Granted, Wales should have a penalty for Darren Randolph's charge into Ethan Ampadu.

Republic of Ireland have scored two goals in six and a half Nations League games.

No team to qualify for Euro 2020 scored fewer goals in qualifying than Wales.

You could say that first half had been coming.

I've been quietly impressed, it's been a little bit dull at times but Wales have grown into the game.
