  2. 'If we win we should be OK'published at 15:11 British Summer Time 26 July 2020

West Ham v Aston Villa (16:00 BST)

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa boss Dean Smith, speaking to BT Sport: "I think we have shown character over the last few weeks. A lot of people had us relegated already but it is now in our own hands. We have to go and do that. We didn't win in the first six and left a lot of points out there (after the restart) but we trusted what we were doing. We are tough to play against and tough to beat. The last few games have gone our way.

"We need to be very solid again. I don't think David Moyes will allow them (West Ham) to be (switched off). They want to finish as high as they can. They won't be laying down for us. We will have an idea (of what is going on elsewhere). But we need to win a game and if we do that we should be OK."

BBC Sport at the Etihad Stadium

In the difficult days of April and the beginning of May, I truly thought we would never get to this day.

The arguments over if football could be played, whether neutral stadiums would be the way forward, if there was going to be relegation or if the whole thing should be scrapped and declared null and void went on for quite a long time.

Other than around Liverpool's title success, the issue of fans gathering around stadiums never really became a problem and today we have one of the most exciting final days, with so many issues to be resolved.

I suspect everyone at the Premier League will breath a huge sigh of relief at 18:00.

It all starts again on 12 September. How long after that will it be before fans are allowed in stadiums?

    Rob Green
Former West Ham and England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

When I signed for Chelsea I looked through the bonus sheet - it wasn't the first thing I did, but almost! - and asked what there was for the Europa League. They said, 'Nothing - it's a second-rate competition, we're here to win the Champions League'.

What Frank Lampard needs to get across to his players is the intensity of every game. You can't just turn up for the big games, the games where you want to play. That's what the great Chelsea team of fifteen years ago did.

I had Bournemouth to go down this year. I looked at their signings and thought they were bang in trouble. They are doing the same thing and getting worse at it. If you can't see that, it is worrying. When I watch Bournemouth, all their players do the same thing - there is no wild card. It is all very predictable.

Aston Villa are in pole position. Watford have a shocker of a game at Arsenal. I thought there was no way they would drop into it but against City they looked completely lost. The managerial shout was a disgusting one and I don't see them getting a win.

Villa have shown some promise. 100% I would rather be Villa.
