Up to the hour mark then and Leeds lead but Barnsley are making life awkward.

Jack Harrison is being brought off, while Pascal Struijk comes on.

It's a defensive-minded tweak on first glance.

That's a big nod of respect to the way that Barnsley are playing.

Luke Thomas wastes a really good chance for Barnsley, having yomped forward unopposed, he looks to play in a team-mate but the pass is undercooked and nabbed.

Barnsley will be desperate to get something from this game, as defeat could mean they'll be relegated before they play again.

If both Huddersfield and Charlton win their respective fixtures on Friday and Saturday, the Tykes will drop back into League One after one season in the second tier.

That will also depend, obviously, on any points penalties that could be dished out in the coming weeks - Wigan are appealing against their potential 12-point deduction for going into administration, while Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County are still awaiting verdicts for their respective EFL charges.

Helder Costa has been taken around the pitch on a stretcher, a worry for Leeds.

On the field, the Whites got Ezgjan Alioski down the left but his cross was too deep.

Great charge down the left by Barnsley, Conor Chaplin is played in and snaps a half-volley which skims just wide of the target.

Then, Luke Ayling dawdles close to the Leeds box and Callum Styles pinches it, drives on and again, drills wide.

Two very good chances and neither taken. That's the difference.

Meanwhile, a blow for Leeds as Helder Costa is withdrawn and Ezgjan Alioski comes on.

Both of these sides will have eyes on tomorrow evening's game between Huddersfield and West Bromwich Albion - another fixture with implications at both ends of the Championship.

Leeds fans will be in the unusual position of cheering on West Yorkshire rivals Town, who could do them a major favour with a good result at the John Smith's Stadium.

In turn, Barnsley's escape routes will be greatly improved by as many teams down there at the bottom with them dropping points, and so a West Brom win would go down nicely.

It's not been straightforward for Leeds here against Barnsley, but they do have the lead after Michael Sollbauer's own goal.

They have been working hard defensively as the visitors brought the game to them, and showed signs of imposing themselves on the game as the half progressed.

Barnsley can feel unlucky to an extent, they've had chances, but Leeds took theirs - however unfortunate it was that Sollbauer turned into his own net, Helder Costa was lurking behind.

Illan Meslier does well to pluck Alex Mowatt's cross out of the air for Leeds.

The Barnsley skipper is also involved at the back, snatching away a Luke Ayling cross...

Then Tykes defender Jordan Williams has to get across to hammer away a Jack Harrison cross for Leeds.

Cauley Woodrow flicks on nicely to Alex Mowatt, and Kilian Ludewig is picked out on the right but his cross comes to nothing for Barnsley.

Gerhard Struber was making a few heated points to Marcelo Bielsa a moment ago, not happy with one decision made by Jarrod Gillett.

Only one goal in it, but Leeds are pretty adept at keeping a lead, Wigan's win against the Whites last season the last time they dropped one.

Leeds pinball on the edge of the Barnsley box, as Mateusz Klich's shot is blocked by Mads Andersen's ribs after Helder Costa robbed Jordan Williams.

For all their attacking energy, at times the Tykes look a bit nervy at the back.

Barnsley build-up play takes them into the box but Jordan Williams is just unable to connect with the telling pass which would have put him one-on-one with Illan Meslier.

Then Leeds counter through Stuart Dallas down the right, and a lofted ball into Tyler Roberts looks a good one.

However, Aapo Halme gets a toe to the ball and shuts down the Leeds chance.

Liam Cooper shunted Cauley Woodrow out of the way and released Luke Ayling down the left for Leeds.

His cross sweeps behind off the boot of Mads Andersen.

The resulting set-piece is cleared, Ayling's cross is temptingly nodded into the mix by Tyler Roberts but no one gambles.
