    Alaves 0-3 Barcelona

It would be a record seventh La Liga top scorer award, or Pichichi Trophy, for Lionel Messi - should Karim Benzema fail to run riot against Leganes later.

    Not bad, really.

    Alaves 0-3 Barcelona

Alaves want a penalty for handball but their appeals are dismissed by the referee.

Barcelona then bomb down the other end but Lionel Messi is unable to grab his second of the game as the hosts recover to clear.

  3. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 51 mins

    Alaves 0-3 Barcelona

Nelson Semedo does come on to replace Clement Lenglet now, but it appears Arturo Vidal might be carrying on a scentre-back.

Victor Laguardia, Lucas Perez and Oliver Burke have come off for Alaves, replaced by Luis Rioja, Pere Pons and Alberto Rodriguez.

    Alaves 0-3 Barcelona

Barcelona are playing on with 10-men for the moment as Nelson Semedo gets himself ready to join the action in place of Clement Lenglet.

Arturo Vidal is currently occupying a centre-back role but the Barcelona players currently have no interest in knocking the ball out of play to allow that change to happen...

    Alaves 0-3 Barcelona

Clement Lenglet is having some trouble at the start of the second half.

He's receiving a bit of treatment and it looks like he won't be able to continue here.

    Luis Suarez

You can't really stop Barcelona when they're in this mood.

Luis Suarez heads in from Jordi Alba's cross to score his 16th league goal of the campaign, at the end of a really smooth team move.

  13. GREAT SAVE!published at 41 mins

    Alaves 0-2 Barcelona

That's a really good save from Roberto to deny Barcelona a third before half-time.

Lionel Messi floats a cross into the box, which itself looked set to trouble the Alaves goalkeeper. To complicate matters, Arturo Vidal drifts in to meet the cross and flicks it on with his head.

Roberto manages to adjust and gets a strong hand to paw the ball to safety.

    Alaves 0-2 Barcelona

Alaves earn the games first corner, after 38 minutes.

They can't make anything of it though.

Not too much intensity from the hosts, as you'd probably expect.

  15. Postpublished at 37 mins

    Alaves 0-2 Barcelona

That goal means Karim Benzema will need at least a hat-trick to deny Lionel Messi another golden boot this season...

    Lionel Messi

Alaves had barely got back on the pitch.

It's a 24th La Liga goal of the season for Lionel Messi.

They can't have been back on the field much more than 30 seconds, but Messi controls Riqui Puig's pass in the box and takes his time before shooting low into the corner.

    Alaves 0-1 Barcelona

We've got a first drinks break of the game.

Unlike some we have seen in the Premier League this one seems rather necessary with the sun beating down.

The ice packs are on the necks.

    Alaves 0-1 Barcelona

A good stop by Roberto denies Barcelona a quick-fire double!

Alaves commit men forward seeking a response but Barca win the ball back and are lightening quick on the break as Riqui Puig feeds in Luis Suarez.

Suarez is charging towards goal but Roberto closes down and does well to block the forward's attempt.

    Breakthrough!

The Barcelona pressure eventually proves too much.

Lionel Messi dinks a pass from the right of the box into the path of Ansu Fati, who sweeps home from close range.

    Alaves 0-0 Barcelona

    Nope, not this time!

Lionel Messi gets the the ball over the wall but he isn't able to make it dip back down again.

Alaves went with a man lying down behind the wall, just in case.
