Hamilton boss Brian Rice makes a couple of changes to his tiring side too.

Former Inverness Caledonian Thistle midfielder Charlie Trafford makes his debut and defender Ciaran McKenna is also on, with Ross Callachan and Hakeem Odoffin coming off.

  2. GREAT SAVE!published at 68mins

    Celtic 4-1 Hamilton Academical

An Accies side with an average age of 22 is looking a bit ragged now and only another good save from Ryan Fulton prevents Celtic extending their lead.

Mohamed Elyounoussi this time pings an effort from 12 yards that the goalkeeper parries wide.

  3. CLOSE!published at 63mins

    Celtic 4-1 Hamilton Academical

Celtic are not satisfied with four and Jeremie Frimpong is close to his second goal of the game, the right-back having an effort blocked by goalkeeper Ryan Fulton at close range.

The ball rebounds in the air and, when Callum McGregor heads for goal, appropriately named home right-back Hakeem Odoffin is on hand to hack it off the line.

Lethal again from Celtic, they are moving the ball really sharply. They are just cutting Hamilton apart now. It's a simple tap in again for Odsonne Edouard

    Odsonne Edouard

Opening game and already Odsonne Edouard has a hat-trick.

It is Ryan Christie the supplier of sorts this time as the midfielder's shot is blocked by goalkeeper Ryan Fulton from close range, but the French striker is there to finish into the top corner.

It was an outstanding attack. James Forrest down the line, you've seen him do it over and over again. And Odsonne Edouard is just a sublime player. Celtic fans will be hoping he's not as sublime over the next couple weeks so they can keep him at the end of the window

    Odsonne Edouard

Told you Hamilton weren't out of this yet! Well, maybe they are now.

They are caught napping in central defence as James Forrest speeds down the line to send in a low cross and 18-year-old Jamie Hamilton is caught the wrong side of Odsonne Edouard as the Frenchman flicks home his second goal of the game.

  12. KICK-OFFpublished at 17:34 British Summer Time 2 August 2020

    Celtic 2-1 Hamilton Academical

Hamilton get the second half under way. The visitors are certainly not overawed and will not consider themselves out of this game yet.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon will be hoping his side can extend their lead early so the pressure does not mount with city rivals Rangers having taken three points from a potentially hazardous away trip to Aberdeen yesterday.

Neil Lennon will be telling his defenders to be a bit more aggressive in the air, but in attack he won't have worries at all. They look very fit and alert. Odsonne Edouard has picked up where he left off. Offensively, Celtic look very, very good

It's been a great half. Brian Rice's attitude transfers on to his team. They've had their chances. The opening goal was a thing of beauty, but Hamilton will not go away and they deserved their goal. If they can replicate this throughout the season, they won't be near 12th or 11th place

Odsonne Edouard and Jeremie Frimpong scored for Celtic

Celtic are half way towards getting the job done as they look to get what they hope is a 10-in-the-row title season off to a flying start.

But they have not had it all their own way. Accies have taken confidence from running the champions close a couple of times last season and they came close a couple of times before falling behind to Odsonne Edouard's opening goal.

Greg Taylor supplied that and did the same with the second for Jeremie Frimpong.

It would have been harsh if that had been the half-time scoreline and Scott Martin's deflected goal was fully deserved.

  17. Postpublished at 45mins

    Celtic 2-1 Hamilton Academical

Accies have to defend a corner as the game enters first-half stoppage time and they do well to block two rasping volleys from centre-half Christopher Jullien in quick succession.

    Celtic 2-1 Hamilton Academical

Hamilton are forced into a change by an injury to Ronan Hughes.

On comes Greek striker Marios Ogkmpoe, which means a bit of re-organisation is needed, with Andy Winter dropping back into midfield.

  19. YELLOW CARD Ross Callachan (Hamilton)published at 34mins

Celtic have not been knocked out of their stride by that goal and, after Ross Callachan is booked for pulling down Ryan Christie, the Scotland midfielder curls the free-kick just wide and into the side netting.
