Aberdeen and Rangers got the Premiership ball rolling yesterday, with Ryan Kent's goal giving Steven Gerrard's Ibrox side a win than was more comfortable than the scoreline suggests as they look to prevent city rivals Celtic securing that 10 in a row.

Meanwhile, there were wins for Hibernian and St Mirren, while promoted Dundee United had to make do with a point at home to St Johnstone.

Celtic captain Scott Brown hopes to be lifting the Premiership trophy again at the end of the season

Yesterday was the day of the pretenders to the crown as the Covid-19 delayed Scottish Premiership got under way. Today is the day the long-established champions begin their quest to be out on their own as history makers.

Having already matched the achievement of one previous Celtic side, and an equally famous Rangers squad, Neil Lennon hopes to lead his side to an unprecedented 10th Scottish league title in a row.

Looking to thwart them today are a Hamilton Academical side who start each season simply trying to once again perplex the pundits who annually tip them for relegation.

Stay with us for all the build up, match commentary and post-match reaction from what will be an eerie Celtic Park without the fans who usually pack the stands.
