Callum Lang should score, it's as simple as that. A little angle on it he scores, but it's straight at Ross Laidlaw. It should've been 1-1. Its the first time Motherwell have put a decent ball into the box

  4. GREAT SAVE!published at 64 mins

    Ross County 1-0 Motherwell

How has Callum Lang not scored?! A delicious ball in from Sherwin Seedorf finds him totally unmarked six yards out, and he heads it straight at Ross Laidlaw, who reacts well to save.

    What a chance...

County make their first change with Harry Paton being replaced by Michael Gardyne.

    Ross County 1-0 Motherwell

Sherwin Seedorf is on for Jake Hastie. Motherwell haven't really threatened the County goal since Chris Long hit the post in the first half.

  6. Stuart de Kettlewellpublished at 20:55 British Summer Time 3 August 2020

    Ross County 1-0 Motherwell

Great to see David de Gea spending his Monday evening by keeping an eye on his brother's progress as sole Ross County manager.

It's a good chance for Callum Lang, he's got the run on Connor Randall. That's why David Turnbull's been moved inside, he's got that quality of ball

  8. CLOSE!published at 52 mins

    Ross County 1-0 Motherwell

Motherwell need to get the ball to David Turnbull as much as possible. His inviting delivery gives Callum Lang an instant chance to make a mark on his debut, but he mistimes his header at the back post.

  9. Postpublished at 48 mins

    Ross County 1-0 Motherwell

County's young left-back Josh Reid has looked solid so far, and once again stops a Motherwell cross into the box.

Not to make anyone feel old, but when Reid was born, Sugababes and S Club Juniors were top of the charts...

Motherwell have got to get more of the ball in the second half, they need to work on the quality when the ball comes into the box as well

  11. KICK-OFFpublished at 45 mins

    We're back under way.

New Motherwell signing Callum Lang is on for Mark O'Hara - a clear move of attacking intent from Stephen Robinson.

Ross County have got the balance right. They are retaining the ball, passing it well and going direct when they have to. They've defended well as well. The full balance has been really good so far

I've enjoyed it, both teams trying to play. Ross County have defended well and it's limited Motherwell to one clear cut chance

That opener, coming from a mistake from Motherwell’s Declan Gallagher, has helped shift things up a gear. Composure perhaps what’s lacking for 'Well - understandable in the circumstances leading up to this season opener.

County so far fending off the attacking spell though, something they struggled with last term.

  16. HALF-TIME - Ross County 1-0 Motherwellpublished at 20:29 British Summer Time 3 August 2020

Stephen Robinson won't be best pleased with that display from his Motherwell side. They've not been horrendous, but they're nowhere near at their best and I don't think many could argue with the score at the break.

Declan Gallagher tried to protest at referee Nick Walsh's decision to penalise his attempted tackle on Harry Paton, but it was a clear penalty. Ross Stewart dispatched it expertly and he's given his side the lead at half-time.

Good game for the neutral. Let's hope for a few more goals in the second half.

Motherwell corner, can they equalise just before the break....?

No, it's headed away by County who are holding firm.

I'm surprised Allan Campbell isn't starting tonight. There's plenty numbers and options in Motherwell's central area but I thought he was excellent last season

    Ross County 1-0 Motherwell

This game has finally started to settle down now. It's been a frantic opening half at the Global Energy Stadium. Stuart Kettlewell would of course be delighted to get his side in with the lead at the break, but it's not beyond the realms of possibility that they double their advantage in the next few minutes...
