  1. 'We've got to be realistic' - County chairmanpublished at 19:38 British Summer Time 3 August 2020

    Ross County v Motherwell (19:45)

Ross County chairman Roy MacGregor has been speaking on BBC Sportsound about the season ahead and the changes to their management structure.

"We know our place in Scottish football, we’ve got to finish tenth and above," he says.

"We know that. The players know that. The fans know that. We try to balance expectations with reality and up to now we’ve been good at it."

On Stuart Kettlewell becoming the club's sole manager and Steven Ferguson moving upstairs.

"These guys [Stuart Kettlewell and Steven Ferguson] get on extremely well and they made it work, but the manager has to make decisive decisions at certain stages and going for a one manager situation – I feel happier in a leadership capacity that the decisions will be more decisive."

The music blasting around the park here in Dingwall and the excitable tannoy announcements are providing some semblance of normality, but come kick-off I suspect the seagulls will be providing the atmosphere. It’s a bit eerie with so few in the ground...and my first football games were Highland League matches!

    Ross County v Motherwell (19:45)

Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson seems slightly concerned by his players being in the shop window...

"The worry for me is the transfer window is open now until October. So, with England shutting down for a little while, there is always the fear that English teams come in after watching games early on. So we are prepared for that, but I have strengthened us in lots of areas."

    Ross County v Motherwell (19:45)

We can confirm that Ross County now have three goalkeepers called Ross. Remarkable.

The latest, Ross Doohan, joined on loan from Celtic this week, but this game has come just to soon for him. His new manager Stuart Kettlewell was slightly frustrated that the signing took a bit longer than anticipated to get over the line.

"We'd liked to have got Ross in before and I'm sure Celtic will tell you they'd like to have had business done a couple of weeks earlier too," he said.

"It's just been one of those domino chains where we knew once Celtic got a new goalkeeper in, Ross would come up to us. We've been patient because it's important we give ourselves good options in every area."
