    Quote Message

You need movement in the box and when Aberdeen do get forward their attacking players are too static.

  3. Postpublished at 20:46 British Summer Time 20 August 2020

    St Johnstone 0-0 Aberdeen

Michael O'Halloran does well to win a free-kick about 30 yards out, but Callum Hendry's free-kick hits the wall. It was a very poor free-kick, it has to be said, and another good chance squandered by Hendry.

  4. Postpublished at 20:44 British Summer Time 20 August 2020

    St Johnstone 0-0 Aberdeen

Callum Hendry with another good chance - he looks annoyed with himself that he didn't do better with it. He got himself into a good position after picking up another slack Aberdeen ball. He showed quickness to pick it up after the loose pass, but a poor finish from the Saints striker.

  5. 'Aberdeen look brighter'published at 20:43 British Summer Time 20 August 2020

    St Johnstone v Aberdeen (19:30)

    Richard Foster
Partick Thistle defender on BBC Radio Scotland

    Quote Message

Already Aberdeen look brighter and more energetic. They have serious intent now.

  6. Postpublished at 20:38 British Summer Time 20 August 2020

    St Johnstone 0-0 Aberdeen

Ross McCrorie already having to show his versatility, as it appears he has moved to right-back for Aberdeen. St Johnstone look lively in the opening few minutes of this half.

  7. KICK-OFFpublished at 20:35 British Summer Time 20 August 2020

    St Johnstone 0-0 Aberdeen

We're off again, and Aberdeen have made two changes in an effort to bring this match to life. Matty Kennedy and Connor McLennan come on for Dean Campbell and Ronald Hernandez.

  8. Possession isn't everythingpublished at 20:34 British Summer Time 20 August 2020

    HT: St Johnstone 0-0 Aberdeen

Despite Aberdeen enjoying more possession, almost double the amount of action is in the Dons' own half... Seems evident from this graphic that the visitors are struggling without a recognised striker.

  9. McCrorie making historypublished at 20:31 British Summer Time 20 August 2020

    HT: St Johnstone 0-0 Aberdeen

Here's a mind-boggling stat - Ross McCrorie is the first player to sign for Aberdeen from Rangers in 51 years.

The last player to cross the divide was the late Alex Willoughby, who joined the Pittodrie club from the Gers in 1969.

Has the 22-year-old impressed so far in the Dons defence?

  10. 'Aberdeen not that bad'published at 20:28 British Summer Time 20 August 2020

    HT: St Johnstone 0-0 Aberdeen

    Agree, Dons fans?

  11. 'Saints have faded badly'published at 20:25 British Summer Time 20 August 2020

    HT: St Johnstone 0-0 Aberdeen

    Richard Foster
Partick Thistle defender on BBC Radio Scotland

    Quote Message

It's been boring. St Johnstone started much better and showed energy but fell out of it. Aberdeen look like they'd chew your hand off for a point, but there could be a goal in this for them.

  13. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:19 British Summer Time 20 August 2020

    HT: St Johnstone 0-0 Aberdeen

It's not a classic so far, it has to be said...

There is not a lot of pressure on the Aberdeen defenders when they have the ball, but St Johnstone don't have to work very hard to get the ball back, with the Dons slack in possession so far.

The Saints meanwhile not threatening enough either.

A couple of half chances at each end, but both sides will be hoping for more goalmouth action in the second-half.

  14. Postpublished at 20:15 British Summer Time 20 August 2020

    St Johnstone 0-0 Aberdeen

Approaching half-time and we are still waiting for the first goal. No one wants a third consecutive goalless draw in the Scottish Premiership, so here's hoping someone breaks the deadlock soon...

  15. 'I dislocated my hip watching that...'published at 20:13 British Summer Time 20 August 2020

    St Johnstone 0-0 Aberdeen

    Richard Foster
Partick Thistle defender on BBC Radio Scotland

    Quote Message

I just dislocated my hip watching that. I thought he must head it, but somehow he gets his right foot up and knee over the ball. It's a great attempt and he's so unlucky it drifts just over.

  16. CLOSE!published at 20:10 British Summer Time 20 August 2020

    St Johnstone 0-0 Aberdeen

Aberdeen with a superb chance there... Jonny Hayes drove a cross into the area, before Funso Ojo lifts his right foot unnaturally high to volley it just over the bar. Great effort.

  17. 'Great opportunity lost'published at 20:04 British Summer Time 20 August 2020

    St Johnstone 0-0 Aberdeen

    Billy Dodds
    Former Scotland striker on Sportsound

    Quote Message

Hendry's got to get a pass away or a strike on goal. It's a great opportunity lost.

  18. Postpublished at 20:01 British Summer Time 20 August 2020

    St Johnstone 0-0 Aberdeen

Callum Hendry, after coming back on the field from an injury, had a glorious opportunity there. It looked to be four against two for a second, with the striker driving at the Aberdeen defence, although he hesitated and couldn't get a shot away. He had a couple of options there, including Liam Craig out wide, and probably should have done better.

  19. 'Sore one for Hendry'published at 19:59 British Summer Time 20 August 2020

    St Johnstone 0-0 Aberdeen

    Richard Foster
Partick Thistle defender on BBC Radio Scotland

Callum Hendry goes down holding his knee after jumping up for a header - he has returned to the pitch though which Callum Davidson will be relieved about.

    Quote Message

He has had knee issues before so I really hope he hasn't done serious damage to it. He looked in real pain.

  20. 'Aberdeen so careless in possession'published at 19:57 British Summer Time 20 August 2020

    St Johnstone 0-0 Aberdeen

    Billy Dodds
    Former Scotland striker on Sportsound

    Quote Message

The number of Aberdeen players giving the ball away is incredible. I don't care if you've not been playing any football, that's basic.
