I hope that's the last we see of Pogba. Enough is enough.

United should forget about Sancho & concentrate on buying a centre-half with pace & a world class number 9!

    Mick H

Manchester United defence has no pace. Connolly giving them real trouble this afternoon. Any decent ball over the top is a goal scoring chance. Better teams will exploit this defence.

  6. 'At least the referee on the pitch is making the call'published at 13:59 British Summer Time 26 September 2020

    Brighton 1-2 Man Utd

    Alistair Bruce-Ball
    BBC Radio 5 live commentator

Last season the overruled Brighton penalty would have been given because the VAR officials seemed intent on backing the on-field referee's decision, come what may. At least now they are putting it in the hands of the match referee who has seen it live but giving them the opportunity to watch it back. Whether or not you agree with the decision, at least the referee on the pitch is making that call. He saw it live, has seen it back and he's decided to change his mind.

Lovely ball through from Bruno Fernandes and Anthony Martial is about to pull the trigger but Ben White makes an inch perfect tackle to nick the ball away.

  8. CLOSE!published at 68 mins

Good persistence from Neal Maupay, somehow keeping the ball at his feet with a number of red shirts around him.

The Frenchman gets a shot off but it is straight at David de Gea.

I think they want VAR to be seen to be doing more and taking away the pressure from the officials. Its like saying why use goal line technology when its so obviously in, its there for those times when its not so clear cut.

It's startling how much confidence has a part to play with this United team. When they feel up to it they are a devastating attacking force and the whole team clicks. It's a shame they can't seem to keep it up for very long.

What's the point of the assistants if they are not making any decisions then?

Get rid of them and let VAR control it all.

Re: Disallowed goal - the assistants are told to keep their flag down because they know it will be checked by VAR. It's so that the ref doesn't automatically blow his whistle.

United lead but with the state of their defence, you feel Brighton can get a goal or two themselves.

James Beswick: In fairness to the assistant re:the disallowed Rashford goal - Rashford was well beyond the last defender but almost level with the ball, much tighter than it looked.

Tobias: Football..where 20 blokes run around a football pitch looking for fouls for 90 minutes

Ewan Clark: If that was for Man Utd the Brighton pen would have been given.
