Why make a decision when you can let it go and have VAR correct it if you're wrong? That's the mentality of officials now. Making themselves obsolete.

    Wayne

As a United fan it's hilarious watching other so-called "fans" continuously rotate their opinions on Ole. People making verdicts at the start of a season from the first 2 games is absolutely ridiculous.

    Gov

Modern football astounds me, Manchester United ended the season after lockdown picking up more points than anyone else, yet everyone was suddenly talking about Ole getting the sack. Can everyone just calm down now?

Brighton want ANOTHER penalty as Aaron Connolly goes down in the box from Harry Maguire's attention but referee Chris Kavanagh is convinced about this one and points for a goal kick.

This one counts. Manchester United in front - brilliant goal this time. Marcus Rashford turned Ben White inside out, not once but twice, then buried the chance.

    Marcus Rashford

This one does count..AND WHAT A GOAL IT IS!

Marcus Rashford had one disallowed a couple of minutes earlier but gets on the scoresheet with one from the George Best textbook.

The England international cuts into the box and can finish but sells Ben White a dummy which sends the defender sliding back to Leeds.

Brighton players are queuing up on the line, but the United striker looks up and drills a finish high into the net.

High quality and United finally up and running.

  7. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 53 mins

    Chalked off.

Sian Massey-Ellis keeps her flag down as Marcus Rashford slides the ball home.

But VAR looks at it and the effort is chalked off for offside.

Correct decision but he was way off, why didn't the assistant just put her flag up?

Referee Christopher Kavanagh pointed to the spot but was then sent to the pitchside monitor by the VAR officials, had another look and has changed his mind. He decided there wasn't enough in the contact to merit the penalty.

Yep. It's been overturned. I reckon that's the right call, even though Connolly clearly disagrees.

Hang on. The ref is off over to the monitor to look at Pogba's clumsy challenge on Connolly.

Did the Brighton forward pause and take a hit after getting in front of Pogba? Is he pulling Pogba's shirt?

    This could well be overturned.

Andrew Mitchell: Obviously chuffed we’ve scored, but did VAR even look at that? Maguire looked borderline off as the ball was struck. They would spend 5 minutes checking those over and over last year, now they’re just letting them go?

JavelBleach: Not only that, he was clearly pulling back the defender who had a chance of getting to the ball.

In what universe is Maguire allowed to have two hands on Dunk's shoulders like that? Clear foul, where was VAR?

C Li: Afraid to say but will Ole last till Xmas if this string of results and performance continue as it is. Too early in the season to talk about the sack but odds probably cut.

MrRobot: Ole is underperforming, Players are underperforming, Coaching staff are underperforming, Woodward is underperforming, Glazers are underperforming, Why is anyone surprised that Manchester United are playing so badly!!? Just Shameful.

Pav Chana: Cannot expect to win if your left back only goes forward once every 45. Play Pogba higher where he can be dangerous and not in our third where he is a danger to us! Another example of poor tactics

Mat Ryan should have come out and collected the Fernandes cross. He's at fault for staying on his line.

    Brighton 1-1 Man Utd

Manchester United have given away a penalty in consecutive Premier League games for the first time since March 2009; it's the first time the Red Devils have conceded one in both of their first two games to a Premier League campaign.

David de Gea has saved just two of the 29 Premier League penalties he has faced. Only Paul Robinson has a worst save rate (6.1% to 6.9%).
