Daniel Hiorns: Think it’s a little harsh for Danny Ings not to be included, without his goals Southampton would have been down for sure.

Ings finished the season as the Premier League's joint-second highest scorer with 22 goals.

Harry Kane said the England players had a meeting to discuss whether they should take a knee.

"It's important to us as a nation, a team and a staff, to be on the same page," he said.

"It was a pretty quick discussion because everyone's on board and wanted to do it. We all think it's important to continue that message when playing for our country, and for our clubs as well."

  6. De Bruyne the pass masterpublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 4 September 2020

Kevin de Bruyne graphic showing he created 136 chances in 2019-20Image source, BBC Sport

Kevin de Bruyne made 20 Premier League assists in 2019-20, equalling the record set by Arsenal's Thierry Henry in 2002-03 for the most in a single season. He also scored 13 goals last term so had the most goal involvements (33) of any Premier League player.

The Belgian midfielder created the most chances of any player in Europe's big five leagues in 2019-20. On average, he made a chance every 21 minutes, which also gave him the best minutes-per-chance ratio.

Since that statistic was first measured in 2006-07, only Dimitri Payet - remember him?! - has had a better ratio, when he made a chance every 19 minutes for Marseille in Ligue 1 in 2017-18.

  7. Alexander-Arnold the attacking defenderpublished at 12:46 British Summer Time 4 September 2020

Right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold finished the Premier League season with the second-highest number of assists with 13 - one more than Andrew Robertson on the other side of the Liverpool defence.
