Remember Brendan Rodgers' first game in charge of Celtic? The Gibraltarian part-timers Lincoln Red Imps left Celtic with crimson faces when they secured an infamous first-leg victory in their Champions League qualifier in July 2016.

Lee Casciaro's second-half goal did the damage, the Ministry of Defence police officer outfoxing Efe Ambrose to score.

Celtic banished their blushes with a 3-0 victory in the second leg in Glasgow, with the aftershock of the loss still being felt...

  6. Rangers' path to the group stage?published at 15:37

Lincoln Red Imps v Rangers (16:00)

Steven Gerrard's side won in the Principality's Victoria Stadium in last season's first qualifying round, beating St Joseph's 4-0 before scoring six in the second leg.

That set the Ibrox side on their way to a run to the last 16, where they were knocked out by Bayer Leverkusen.

Should they beat Red Imps, Rangers would need to win two more one-off ties to reach the group stage, with Willem II in the Netherlands followed by a potentially daunting meeting with a seeded team in the play-off round.

  7. 'Rangers are here to do a job' - Gerrardpublished at 15:34

Lincoln Red Imps v Rangers (16:00)

Steven Gerrard insists complacency won't be an issue against Lincoln Red Imps in this afternoon's Europa League qualifier.

A trip to Willem II awaits - after the Dutch side hammered Progres Niederkorn 5-0 - should Rangers progress.

Speaking ahead of the one-off second qualifying round tie, the Rangers boss said: "If you think because we are Rangers we can just win the game it won't work.

Steven Gerrard has urged his Rangers players to "match the desire" of Lincoln Red Imps

"We have to match the application and desire and then let our quality players go and win the game. We cannot drop our standards. If we play with our hunger and desire, being strong at the back and attacking we can get the result.

"It's a unique stadium to play in and we are here to do a job. I want the players to show a strong mentality and do a professional job to get in the next round."

The second qualifying round ties are one-off affairs, so there are no margins for error.

Mind you, the one-off ties offered some cracking games in last season's Europa League and Champions League knock-out ties, so here's hoping for some similar nerve-shredding fare.
