    Brighton 2-0 Portsmouth

Brighton are starting to have some fun now. Alexis Mac Allister gets it back from Dale Stephens with a nice little flick on the edge of the box.

His shot is blocked. Portsmouth are pegged in.

    Alireza Jahanbakhsh

    WOW.

Absolute rocket. Alireza Jahanbakhsh could not have hit this any sweeter. Brighton attack in numbers and he's in acres of space on the left side of the box.

He takes a touch to tee himself up then smashes it into the roof of the net.

No keeper is stopping that. Graham Potter applauds it in the dugout.

    Done and dusted?

    Brighton 1-0 Portsmouth

Viktor Gyokeres has a pop from long range and it's a really decent strike. It's a little too straight though and the keeper palms it away.

So Stoke City v Gillingham up next.

As it stands, Brighton are the final team heading into the third round, unless Portsmouth can find a way back.

Cameron Pring links up with Ronan Curtis on the left and fires a decent ball in. John Marquis is the target for Portsmouth but it's defended well and out for a corner.

    Wolves 0-1 Stoke

Daniel Podence does well to get away and put a cross in. Fabio Silva is waiting at the back post but can't get the header in before it's cleared for a corner.

Simon: Hit thumb down. Why is it, when something is at stake, I never hit the right option?

And every time I ask something like that, something happens. It's like THEY KNOW.

Are Gillingham on their way to Stoke?

We're into stoppage time and it looks like Jacob Brown has bagged the winner.

    Jacob Brown (88 mins)

    NO PENS!?

    What a time to score!

James McClean and Steven Fletcher link-up nicely before setting up Jacob Brown, who puts it past John Ruddy, who should have done much better. It was straight at him but Stoke won't care!

Daniel Podence is on for Leander Dendoncker.

Wolves are piling absolutely everybody forward. Nuno has got about five forwards on!

    Nooooo.

Fabio Silva should have the goal on his debut. It falls kindly for him from Ruben Neves' free-kick but he sends it wide from about six yards out!

    Nightmare.

  20. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:33 British Summer Time 17 September 2020

    Brighton 1-0 Portsmouth

Some bright moments (did you like the pun?) from Portsmouth but Brighton lead at half time and probably deservedly so on the basis of chances created.
