Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, speaking to Sky Sports: "It's for Colin Bell and his family. He helped to build something special for this club. It's an incredible victory for us to beat United away and it was for him absolutely.

"The team is ready and it was an outstanding performance. We dipped a little bit in the second half, we were tired after the game at Stamford Bridge but when the team has this mentality they can do something incredible. It's not the Champions League but four times in a row to reach the final - I'm so impressed.

"I think that was our first goal from a set-piece. Lately, we have been close to scoring on set-pieces and tonight we scored two goals.

"It's about the consistency. We didn't have a proper pre-season and that's why we need a little bit of time but I think we are already there.

"[The final] is not next week, the game will arrive at the final. We will be in the best possible condition. Tottenham are a top team but we won't think about it yet."

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to Sky Sports: "Manchester City can score many great goals. You can accept that. When you concede two simple set-plays, it's very disappointing. Just not good enough in those moments.

"We didn't create enough big chances. They didn't either. We didn't have the extra finesse we've had in the games lately. We weren't good enough today.

"We played against a very good Manchester City team. They played well. When they play well you have to play very well to beat them. We were just lacking that little bit.

"We're getting closer. This is a much better version of United than a year ago in those semis.

"It's not psychological [losing in four semis]. Sometimes you meet good teams in the semis. We met, at the moment, City are probably the best team in England."

Dr David: Not good enough tonight but still their overall performance this season has been much better. Not too fussed about a league cup exit just yet.

David Irvine: Another SF defeat not good enough. You couldn't even coach the players from the bench to keep the ball and stop giving it away all over the field. City were showing you how to do it but you couldn't tell the captain to skipper. No on field leadership.

Manchester City goalscorer John Stones, speaking to Sky Sports: "I'd like to send our condolences for Colin Bell and his family.

"I think how we played today was a reflection of him. A great moment for us and hopefully he is looking down on us. It was a great occasion, another win against another of the top teams.

"[Pep Guardiola] just said 'same again, same mentality, same everything'. We dealt with the problems well and just tried to be more clinical in the final third.

"We had so many chances, great chances, great moves to get into the box and we did a job at the end of the day."

On his goal: "I was just trying to follow the ball. They had they held a high line, just to get something on it was great."

On his recent form: "I'm just working hard, just trying to play as many games as I can. I want to give everything to the team and stay true to myself - see what I can do, what I can improve on.

"Playing these big games is something I thrive off and I just want to play well."

Daniel made his sixth appearance, to add to father Paolo's 647 and grandad Cesare's 347.

They lost 3-1 to Juventus though.

Kevin: Poor display from Fernandes today, too many attempts at a wonderball when playing simple was the better option. Also two goals conceded from set pieces...disappointing to say the least. Semi final crumblers.

United's downfall is they try to play to a system with a focal point in attack and crosses into the box, where the only player good enough to be the focal point is Cavani. They are best with Martial (at a push) and Rashford playing off Cavani. Martial should be nowhere near a no.9 position.
