RegularJon: City pass it around very well but mostly in front of United so defence has been fairly comfortable. Need to be more precise and clinical going forwards and we can win this.

Michael Reid: As a united fan, yes he's turned our fortunes around - but really getting frustrated with Bruno... Consistently losing the ball in good positions or by trying the most ridiculously ambitious pass that was never really on anyway. Arguably our worst player that half.

Tomenum: United need to improve their passing. Rashford needs to stay onside. Bruno needs to be sharper.

Two teams with no out and out strikers. Not surprising it's 0-0!

HT: Man Utd 0-0 Man City

    Dion Dublin
Former Aston Villa & Man Utd striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think it's been a good 0-0. Both sides are really going for the throat, there is no sitting back at all. Organisation has been good by both sides, defensively.

But unfortunately, the linesmen have been very sharp tonight and haven't missed anything. The officials have done well...but it's still goalless.

The half-time whistle goes. City have been the better team but it's all square at the break.

I think after the first half an hour, where both teams really went at each other, the momentum of the match and the tempo has just dropped rather.

  11. INJURY TIMEpublished at 45 mins

Loser92: That idea of not flagging offsides until a goal is scored is ludicrous.

Offside law needs so much revision from late flagging to pointing hands being given offside. It's mad and it's not VAR's fault.

Paul Pogba whips in a cross from the right which John Stones stoops to chest. The ball bounces and maybe hits some of his arm. There are shouts for a pen but nothing given.

Stavros Marko: The usual(frustrating) Paul Pogba.

TheTurboBear: This game is unstoppable force vs immovable object. Both teams are evenly matched, but their styles of play are just so different.

  16. Darren Fletcher watching from an executive boxpublished at 20:28 Greenwich Mean Time 6 January 2021

    Man Utd 0-0 Man City

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

Darren Fletcher has joined the Manchester United coaching staff but he is not in the dug-out or the technical area tonight.

I am told he is watching from an executive box with other members of United's training ground staff.

Fernandinho has been pinging some tasty balls out to the right wing. This one finds Kevin de Bruyne, whose cross is cleared by Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Phil Foden looks so comfortable on the ball and always looks like he's got more time than he has.

He hasn't tried anything on the outside of Aaron Wan-Bissaka because we that's his strength, Foden knows that's his strength.

So, he's just trying to pick a pass, play one-twos around Wan-Bissaka.

As Raheem Sterling was entering the box, he's tried to chop back onto his left foot, on the inside.

The ball was fine but he was never going to get his body around Luke Shaw as well.

Luke Shaw stayed strong, stood up and there was no way that was a penalty or a free-kick.
