The players are as excited by this as the fans - and you would expect that to be the case - the players must have been looking forward to performing in front of spectators, like all of the people in the arts - actors, singers, comedians.

Footballers are entertainers and City put on a really entertaining performance.

Yep. That's 30 trophies for Pep Guardiola since being appointed Barcelona manager in 2008.

He has won all eight of his finals at Wembley as a manager too.

Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola to Sky Sports: "It's not full [in the stadium] but it was a great noise [from the supporters].

"Today we are incredibly happy that we have four in a row in this competition. We tried to win the game, created a lot of chances. They had some chances on the counter but in general we had a good game."

On whether his side practise set-pieces: "We don't have time to work. Just the principles from the beginning so we know what to do and we just try to recover. It is tough but it is what it is - the schedule is this way."

On winning his 30th trophy as a manager: "It's good. I was in big clubs so that is why it is easier to do it."

When there are fans in the stadium you run the extra yard, you are inspired. The players responded magnificently.

Manchester City

Manchester City captain Fernandinho told Sky Sports: "I feel very good. It is an amazing sensation. I'm so happy for myself and for my teammates. We have to enjoy this moment now.

"We had a high intensity. We pressed them high and we created chances. Lloris made some really good saves, we hit the post.

"I'm really proud, to win this trophy six times is an amazing feeling.

"I'm happy for our fans."

Craig: What is Kane doing wasting his best years on this lot. He has to move on. Spurs are going nowhere.

Manchester City need to celebrate this moment, you never take winning a trophy for granted but Wednesday night against PSG will be such a great game.

They'll fancy it, they will take a lot into that game from this performance.

Here's the moment Fernandinho lifted the League Cup - his SIXTH as a Manchester City player. He only joined the club in 2013.

Spurs cannot have Ryan Mason in charge next season. There is talk of Julian Nagelsmann - why on earth would he walk into this mess at Tottenham?

He could get the Bayern Munich job. Spurs are a big club but it looks like there is one hell of a rebuild after the mess that Jose Mourinho has left.

They have all the gear - a brand new stadium - but do they have a team that fits it?

Of course, it's a painful defeat for Tottenham, whose 13-year wait for silverware goes on.

They'll also have to secure European football via their league placing, having missed out on the guaranteed Europa Conference League spot that would have accompanied victory.

Manchester City

Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez speaking to Sky Sports: "It was a tough game. We knew it was going to be tough. We kept dominating, we kept passing the ball and I think we deserved to win today.

"You are always scared because it is a good team but we are confident in our game. We are very happy. You have to win whether you play good or not - today I think we played good and won."

On having fans back: "They made a massive difference, 8,000 was amazing and we look forward to having more of them back."

It's heartbreaking to lose a final, I have been there. City were miles ahead on the day.

The Spurs players will be disappointed with their level of performance. The opportunity has passed them by.

And off Manchester City go to grab their winners' medals... off a pitchside table.

The champagne is waiting there too, and is soon sprayed all over the place as Fernandinho lifts the trophy.

Manchester City goalscorer Aymeric Laporte to Sky Sports: "It's very special for us after we lost in the FA Cup. [We needed] to get confidence and keep going. In the last two months we have been so good. We have to keep this rhythm, to win more titles.

"It was difficult today, they were a good team. It's never easy. Today we have done very well.

"I was thinking about my yellow card. We know a little mistake can cost you. I was being careful.

"We are so happy to see our supporters back. I wish there could have been more, but we are so happy to have their support."

Manchester City are in a different class on the pitch but it's a different game, football, with the fans back inside the stadium. The Tottenham fans played their part but it's City's fans who rightfully celebrate.

They put on a hell of a display, penned Spurs back and created so many opportunities. This trophy gets a bit of a kicking at times but you can see how happy the fans are.

City fans inside the stadium are on their feet clapping their hands above their heads and cheering another final win. They have won it for the fourth year in a row and the eighth time - equalling Liverpool's record.

They were convincingly the better team.
