Good, strong effort by Marco Asensio but Antaolii Trubin pushes away the danger.

The 19-year-old goalkeeper has done well on his Champions League bow, although he hasn't been massively troubled. I doubt he was expecting that when he was told he would be playing against the Spanish giants.

Nice and simple from the champions as they make just one change from the team who won 4-1 on league duty at the weekend. Joshua Kimmich comes in for Serge Gnabry.

    Atletico Madrid

Atleti make six changes as we are deprived of the feisty duo of Luis Suarez and Diego Costa up front. Suarez starts but is partnered by Joao Felix.

Manchester City make two changes from the side that beat Arsenal on Saturday. Nathan Ake is not fully fit so is replaced by Eric Garcia at the back, and Ilkay Gundoghan makes his first start of the season, coming in for Phil Foden in midfield.

Sergio Aguero continues up front after playing his first 65 minutes of the season against the Gunners.

Foden is among the substitutes, along with John Stones, Fernandinho and the fit again Oleg Zinchenko but Guardiola appears short of numbers as he also has two goalkeepers - Zack Steffen and Scott Carson - on the bench.

New City centre-half Ruben Dias comes up against his partner for Portugal at the back tonight, in the shape of the vastly experienced Pepe.

The 37-year-old, a three-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid, is joined in the Porto defence by Malang Sarr, who is on a season-long loan from Chelsea. Felipe Anderson and Marko Grujic, who also joined recently from West Ham and Liverpool on identical deals, are on the bench

Ajax manager Erik Ten Hag says Virgil van Dijk's absence won't change how his side approach tonight's game.

"At the end of the day it is about who is still playing. It's not going to be a different Liverpool, they always play the same," said the Dutchman.

"The quality of Man A can switch to Man B, the whole team won't change because Virgil Van Dijk isn't present.

"They are currently the best team in the world, if you win the Champions League and Premier League within two years you are a strong contender for the Champions League title."

A bit of late pressure from Real Madrid as they try and claw something back but the visitors hold them at bay before the whistle goes for half time.

    An incredible first half.

    It's not even half time.

    Manor Solomon

    What is going on!?

This is incredible, but absolutely no fluke because Shakhtar have been by far and away the better side.

The excellent Tete plays a clever backheel into the path of Manor Solomon, who coolly rolls the ball into the corner.

Even Zinedine Zidane can't help but laugh at what is happening.

    Raphael Varane OG

    Well then!

Unbelievable scenes in Madrid as the unfancied visitors get a second.

They had stayed on the front foot after taking the lead and they are rewarded with another goal as Tete's shot is too hot for Thibaut Courtois to handle and Raphael Varane compounds to stab in the loose ball as he tried to stop Dentinho getting to it.

    Disaster for Real Madrid.

The underdog tag is certainly working for Shakhtar because every player is giving their all to upset the odds. A goal ahead and they are on the attack again looking for more.

    Tete

    The visitors take the lead!

And you have to say they deserve it. Marcelo slides to block as Vikto Korniienko prepares to shoot but instead the defender knocks the ball on for Tete, who hits a low effort into the bottom corner.
