  2. YELLOW CARDpublished at 82 mins

    FC Midtjylland 1-1 Liverpool

Anderson and Diogo Jota collide, the former catching Jota as he spun round with boot and is shown a yellow card.

Eight minutes left and while Jurgen Klopp wanted a win Liverpool will surely be happy with a draw given how below par they have been in the second half.

  3. Postpublished at 81 mins

    FC Midtjylland 1-1 Liverpool

Takumi Minamino heads a ball down inside the box for Mohamed Salah, who turns and scuffs a shot wide but he is offside anyway.

This is a long check. There's a lot to look into with question marks over whether Sory Kaba or Alexander Scholz were offside in the build up.

  7. VAR

Video Assistant Refereepublished at 76 mins

    FC Midtjylland 1-1 Liverpool

Alexander Scholz slams the ball into the roof of the net after capitalising on a scramble in the box but it is ruled out for offside.

There will be a check by VAR, though...

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 74 mins

Former Celta Vigo winger Pione Sisto is on now for the hosts, replacing Anders Dreyer, who won the penalty.

  9. Postpublished at 72 mins

    FC Midtjylland 1-1 Liverpool

Just seen a replay of the offside call but the angle isn't great. Presumably the people in the VAR office had a more straight on angle that showed it to be offside.

  10. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 69 mins

    FC Midtjylland 1-1 Liverpool

Roberto Firmino is on now for Divock Origi as Jurgen Klopp tries to kick start his attack.

Liverpool haven't had a shot on or off target this half.

So in Europe you can concede penalties after an offside, but in a Merseyside Derby you can't, nor can a red card challenge be given it's just punishment?

    Phil in Sheffield

Right Van Dijk didn't get a penalty vs Everton for being offside. VAR is so inconsistent.

    FC Midtjylland 1-1 Liverpool

Liverpool really have not going in this half. Their attacking play is not as fluid, with the ball struggling to stick up that end of the pitch. Quite a turnaround after a pretty comfortable first half, although FC Midtjylland had been growing into it from around the 30 minute mark.

While the goal itself is certainly open for discussion, FC Midtjylland deserve to be level based on their second half performance.

Rory: Why aren’t they showing the offside in the VAR review? It’s supposed to make these decisions more transparent.

  14. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 63 mins

    FC Midtjylland 1-1 Liverpool

There's A LOT that has happened in the last few minutes.

As well as the VAR review and goal, there's also been changes with Konstantinos Tsimikas and Jordan Henderson on for Andy Robertson and Naby Keita for Liverpool.

Mikael Anderson and Gustav Isaksen are on for Frank Onyeka and Awer Mabi for the hosts.

Mark Willis: As a Liverpool fan, can't argue with that penalty decision, Kelleher didn't touch the ball, but looked offside to me just before...

David: How can you get a penalty from an offside position?

  17. goal

GOAL - FC Midtjylland 1-1 Liverpoolpublished at 62 mins

    Alexander Scholz

    Superb penalty.

Caoimhin Kelleher dives the correct way but Alexander Scholz's is too strong and too well placed and flies into the back of the net.

    All square.

  18. YELLOW CARDpublished at 60 mins

    FC Midtjylland 0-1 Liverpool

Caoimhin Kelleher is also booked before the hosts step up for the penalty...

  19. PENALTY TO FC MIDTJYLLANDpublished at 60 mins

    FC Midtjylland 0-1 Liverpool

Hmmm, I thought the offside call would trump anything after it but no, the referee looks at the pitchside monitor and decides to award a penalty!

  20. VAR

Video Assistant Refereepublished at 59 mins

    FC Midtjylland 0-1 Liverpool

Anders Dreyer is onto a ball over the top and clashes with Caoimhin Kelleher as the two goal for the ball. The loose ball is cleared off the line before the linesman blows for an offside.

Hang on, VAR is checking for a penalty here...
