Sharp keeping by Ederson to chase out of his box, win the ball and stop a potential Gladbach counter.
Borussia Monchengladbach 0-0 Manchester City
Excellent defending by Gladbach to stop Gabriel Jesus, then Raheem Sterling, then Ilkay Gundogan from getting enough space to shoot in the box.
Borussia Monchengladbach 0-0 Manchester City
Raheem Sterling thinks he's in on goal for City but a Gladbach defender comes from nowhere to slide in.
Phil Foden is the only player to have a shot in either of these games.

Monchengladbach are going to have to keep the ball better - they're not going to see much of the ball but when they do they need to keep hold of it better.
Borussia Monchengladbach 0-0 Manchester City
Four home players have had zero or one touches so far. They have their first chance to attack as Joao Cancelo's cross gifts them possession but a long ball is overhit.

City should be challenging for the Champions league every year. They’ve arguably got the best squad in Europe behind Bayern. Breaking all these domestic records means nothing without European success.

Pep Guardiola looks very suave in his coat on the touchline. It's got a massive Man City badge on the back of it but it is very suave and that is Pep to a tee.
Borussia Monchengladbach 0-0 Manchester City
Phil Foden speeds down the left but his cross is hacked away. It's attack v defence. Well defence v attack.
Atalanta 0-0 Real Madrid
Atalanta's first real sniff but Luis Muriel's cross is above Robin Gosens' head.
Borussia Monchengladbach 0-0 Manchester City
Corner to City as Raheem Sterling has a cross blocked. They play it short and work it to Phil Foden, who drills a 25-yard low shot at the keeper.
Borussia Monchengladbach 0-0 Manchester City
I've got Ederson, Joao Cancelo, Phil Foden and Ilkay Gundogan in my fantasy Champions League squad today. Surely a goal/assist or three from that bunch tonight.
Borussia Monchengladbach 0-0 Manchester City
It's been all City so far. Left-back/central midfielder Joao Cancelo lofts a long ball forward into the Gladbach keeper's arms.
Tonight's two games are under way.

I would swap my whole team for Man City's bench..
Gareth, Arsenal fan
I read these statistical analyses on how City are overwhelming favourites to win the Champions League every year, and every year the wheels come off in spectacular fashion. Nice try guys, but not even indulging it until we're 5-0 up the 90th minute of the final

Nothing like a Champions League night, is there?
The Champions League anthem belts out at the Puskas Arena, which seems to host every single football game these games.

Some of the goals Ilkay Gundogan is scoring are in the six yard box, so even though he's been give license to be there he's still turning up, he still has a sense of when the ball will be in the box - that comes down to the understanding all around the field.
For Man City when they've scored 100 goals in years gone by it's not one striker that has scored 50 or 60 goals for them. Sergio Aguero might score 30 goals but there's still a spread of goals coming from the rest of the team. When you have a player like Aguero missing you need the rest of the team to step up and that seems to be in their nature.
