AC Milan are looking to go direct by hitting the ball into the channels. You don't see that very often.

They have lined up in a 4-3-3 so they are obviously trying to stiffen up their midfield and use their pace in wider areas.

    Man Utd 0-0 AC Milan

Diogo Dalot crosses into the box but Eric Bailly heads away.

Dalot isn't the only AC Milan player with a connection to an English club with Chelsea's Fikayo Tomori also in their first XI tonight.

Wonder what happens if Diogo Dalot scores a couple for AC Milan tonight? Unlikely I know, but might make things awkward going into the second leg.

Steady start at Old Trafford with not much of note happening yet.

I think Stefano Pioli is very popular with the Milan players and they have had a right go in Serie A this season.

Manchester United's win at the weekend will be a huge boost for them. They were outstanding, it was the perfect performance.

Former Celtic manager on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's interesting to see how both theses clubs are at the moment they are trying to work themselves up to the top echelons of European football again. AC Milan are a young team with the exception of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Stefano Pioli has reinvented them. They are very exciting. I think both teams will set up the same way but I have to take United over the two legs because I think they will be a bit too strong.

Man Utd v AC Milan (17: 55 GMT)

It is a fairly grim evening in Manchester - raining and a cold wind whipping through the air - but hopefully the quality of football on show won't be hampered by that. The two teams are on the pitch at Old Trafford, almost time for kick off.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is trusted at Manchester United - he has people there that he has a good relationship with. That is important for the club.

Darren Fletcher is a very good football man - he understands the game well. Don't expect too much too soon.

Diogo Dalot is allowed to play for AC Milan tonight despite being on loan from Manchester United.

He has a decent record at Old Trafford.

Twelve games, seven wins and just two defeats, one of which was against Barcelona in 2019. The other one was against Cardiff, which wasn't so good clearly.

Manchester United go into this evening's game fresh from their impressive win in the Manchester derby.

It means the Red Devils face AC Milan in good confidence and while the Premier League title will likely be a bridge too far, they will be eyeing a successful Europa League run.

"We’re in good form," says United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

"The mental boost Sunday [the 2-0 win at Manchester City] gave us, the morale boost, confidence boost – of course, we’re looking forward to this one.

"It’s a big game and a great club that we’re playing against. They’ve got the tradition, the history, quality, they’ve got class. It’s always been a club we’ve had good relationships with.”

Tottenham and Dinamo Zagreb have met only once before in European competition.

Spurs beat Dinamo 4-0 at home during the group stages of the Uefa Cup in 2008-09, a game in which Darren Bent scored a hat-trick.

Dinamo actually have a pretty shocking record against English opponents. They have lost nine of their last 10 matches against English sides in European competition, winning the other game 2-1 against Arsenal in the Champions League group stages in 2015.

However, they have won each of their last six matches in the Europa League, embarking on their longest ever winning run in major European competition.

Tottenham v Dinamo Zagreb (20:00 GMT)

Tottenham are, of course, in action later and their manager Jose Mourinho has indicated he will make several changes to his starting XI as they seek their fifth consecutive victory in all competitions.

"Am I going to repeat the same team that played against Crystal Palace? No, I'm going to make a few changes," Mourinho said.

"But the team is working very well, everybody is training hard, everybody is pushing to play, so for me it doesn't matter who is playing as our team is going to be strong."

Would Bale be in the team? Mourinho isn't telling, the big spoilsport...

"I want the momentum to keep going but we have to manage him," Mourinho added.

"The communication is very good, I believe he trusts me. I trust his experience and judgement and his knowledge of his body.

"He's playing well, of course I'd like him to be on the pitch for 90 minutes of every match but it's not possible."
