Arsenal were given a scare by Olympiakos but had enough from the first leg to beat the Greek side on aggregate and reach the Europa League last eight.

Leading 3-1 from the game in Greece, the Gunners were comfortable throughout the first half in London.

Some nerves began to show after Youssef El-Arabi's shot found the net via a deflection off Gabriel to give the visitors hope of repeating last season's shock - when they knocked the Gunners out of the Europa Leaguein the last 32 by scoring in the final minute of extra time at Emirates Stadium.

However, Olympiakos were unable to build on El-Arabi's goal as Arsenal managed the remainder of the tie adequately to progress, helped by a red card shown to Ousseynou Ba for dissent late on.

They will discover their quarter-final opponents when the draw is made in Switzerland at 12:00 GMT on Friday.

Nathan House: Why have United suddenly forgotten how to attack? It’s so sloppy and careless on the ball. Giving the ball away constantly. Fred, McTominay, James, Bruno, Rashford and Greenwood have all been desperately poor going forward.

Michael O'Neil: Solskjaer is still United’s future. He’s just got to rid himself of his devotion to Fred. I’ve played with amateurs who had a better first touch than Fred’s second, third or however many he needs to control the ball.

  5. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:49 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2021

AC Milan 0-0 Manchester United (1-1 on aggregate)

A chance for AC Milan in the last few seconds of the half. A cross from the right, Rade Krunic gets to the ball ahead of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, but the right-back just does enough to deny a clean shooting chance and it goes wide.

And that's the half. This one still very much in the balance. AC Milan will go through on away goals if it is goalless at the end of the second half.

United need to score or will be out and they've only had one shot on target so far.

No Anthony Marial or Edinson Cavani to call upon on the bench, although Paul Pogba and Amad Diallo, a goalscorer in the first leg, are among the options for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

    Neil Lennon
Former Celtic manager on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think Manchester United will want the half-time whistle now. Not that they are under any great pressure but they look a little bit tired and the snap they had in the first 15-20 minutes has definitely gone at the minute. Ole needs to get them in and refresh them.

AC Milan 0-0 Manchester United (1-1 on aggregate)

AC Milan's Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who helped Manchester United win the Europa League and League Cup during a season and a half at Old Trafford, is getting warmed up.

He missed the first leg through injury and is only able to be a substitute tonight, but will be desperate to get on the pitch.

Earlier this week, the 39-year-old also reversed a decision to retire from international football and is in Sweden's squad for their World Cup qualifiers later this month, with his country in the Euros in the summer as well.

I am a proud Spurs fan and I cannot even begin to think how we are going to recover this set back. To dare is to do. I think not. Heads to roll.

For all those calling for Jose to go, what about the players who have been feeble in both attitude and application?

A last-ditch sliding challenge from Victor Lindelof needed to be spot on for United - and it was.

Franck Kessie would have been through with only Dean Henderson to beat if Lindelof hadn't got there. Good defending.

  11. 'They went downhill instead of fighting'published at 20:39 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2021

FT: Dinamo Zagreb 3-0 Tottenham (agg. 3-2)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Former Tottenham midfielder Glenn Hoddle, speaking to BT Sport: "Mentally they have got it wrong right through the game. I said, if Zagreb score I am expecting a reaction. That is Spurs chance to respond but they went backwards.

"They went downhill instead of fighting. They should have upped the gears but they didn't. There is not enough quality in the team. Everyone was looking at each other. When it happens it is a disaster for a team. Hojbjerg not playing shows you what they need. A massive miss. He is one who leads and is always talking and demanding.

"They lost the plot but they also lost their heart."

We started the night talking of four British teams going through.

One has already fallen and two are currently heading out as it stands.

You wouldn't have guessed that Arsenal might be the last British side remaining. Obviously, lots of time for Rangers and Manchester United to change their situations though.

Danger for Manchester United as a corner causes problems. Simon Kjaer, who scored the 92nd-minute equaliser at Old Trafford last Thursday, gets his head to it and tries to knock it down for a team-mate but it's brave, smart goalkeeping from Dean Henderson and he's off his line quickly to smother the ball.

  14. 'You wonder where their season is going'published at 20:34 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2021

FT: Dinamo Zagreb 3-0 Tottenham (agg. 3-2)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Former Tottenham striker Peter Crouch, speaking to BT Sport: "They haven’t turned up in two games now. You talk about seeing a reaction when you go a goal down but we saw players hiding. Simple passes not being made, no creativity. The keeper made some good saves but Zagreb were the better side and deserved to go through. You wonder where their season is going now."

I'm also a little bit disappointed with Bruno Fernandes at the moment. He's just overcooking his passes and has missed a couple of opportunities on the break for Man United. I think he's a great player but he just needs to get his radar working.

Luke Shaw takes a corner from the right, but it is good defending from AC Milan's Simon Kjaer who does enough to put off Harry Maguire and it bounces off the United man for a goalkick.

Ben: Jose's presser is gonna be insane.

Andy: How many beeps can I use to describe this god awful performance from spurs. I hope Levy is happy with his appointment of Mourinho.

    It won't be pretty.

A strike at goal for Manchester United and it comes from Fred, but it is straight at Gianluigi Donnarumma and he's far too good to be beaten with an effort like that.
