A replay shows Chris Smalling caught Edinson Cavani AFTER the ball had run past him when he's missed his backheel.

VAR are checking.

United have a penalty. Marcus Rashford whips in a low cross which Edinson Cavani tries to flick into the goal. He misses the ball... but that's because he's fouled by Chris Smalling.

United have a good chance here to build up a bigger lead. Luke Shaw is allowed to run unchallenged for about 30 yards and he blasts in a shot which Antonio Mirante fumbles, but nobody is there to score a rebound.

Well! What a chance for Arsenal to pull one back...

Bukayo Saka's clever footwork draws the foul on the right of the box and Nicolas Pepe has a chance to grab an away goal from the spot.

The chances are starting to stack up for Gerard Moreno as he cuts in from the left of the box and squeezes an effort goalbound. It's easy for Bernd Leno to collect.

Juan Foyth pulls up while in full flight, he's clutching his hamstring and will have to go off. Ouch.

David de Gea's first save of the game. Edin Dzeko beats Harry Maguire to a Henrikh Mkhitaryan cross and gets a bullet header in but it's central and De Gea can stop it.

Awful goalkeeping but a really good move from Manchester United. Nice and slick. It was actually a really poor shot and the goalkeeper should have done better but Cavani was there for the tap in. They are in front but can they keep themselves there? That is the question.

A customary booking for Etienne Capoue, who catches Eddie Nketiah with a stray forearm on halfway.

Handsome Nick: Arteta seems to have selected a team like he WANTS to get sacked for the payoff. No striker may work for Man City, but they have a starting 11 containing 11 better players that us. This performance has been embarrassing.

Emmanuel Bogare: If Cavani leaves Utd, I think Ronaldo will be the perfect replacement. Although Cavani's touches and finishes has more class than Ronaldo, Ronaldo has more agility.

United keeper David de Gea has only touched the ball 14 times. He hasn't made a save yet.

Roma's Lorenzo Pellegrini has only has 20 touches - despite having a hand in both goals.

That could have been the tie over.

Former Arsenal man Francis Coquelin threads a pass into Gerard Moreno and you would back the in-form forward to score from there, but Bernd Leno spreads himself well and palms it over the crossbar.

Edinson Cavani has scored 10 goals in 13 appearances against Roma, only netting more agianst Monaco (15), Bordeaux, Guingamp and St Etienne (all 12) in his European career.

It is absolutely shocking defending again. They are playing this high line but the defensive line is all over the place. They have got away with one and this is sloppiness that is costing Manchester United tonight.
