  1. Postpublished at 21:21 British Summer Time 24 September 2020

    Sporting 1-0 Aberdeen

The Dons are chasing shadows here as Sporting knock the ball around in midfield.

Hold on, here's a chance for Jonny Hayes on the counter-attack. The wee winger scurries forward and lets fly with a shot, but it sails high over the top. A waste.

  2. CLOSE!published at 21:16 British Summer Time 24 September 2020

    Sporting 1-0 Aberdeen

That really should have been it for Aberdeen. A lovely, deep cross from Pedro Porro is missed by the entire Dons defence and Tiago Tomas is completely free seven yards out, but his wayward header means his goal tally remains at one.

A huge let off for Aberdeen.

Filip Helander with a bullet header and surely that is game over.

Ryan Kent is once more the creator with an inch-perfect cross into the area, and the Swedish international towers over the Willem II defenders to nod powerfully past Robbin Ruiter.

The home side had started brightly in this second half, so Steven Gerrard will be delighted with how his side have again shown their clinical side to move further clear.

  4. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:10 British Summer Time 24 September 2020

    Willem II 0-2 Rangers

Another strong save from Allan McGregor. He's justifying his selection tonight, as Gorkem Saglam's effort from inside the penalty area forces an agile, low stop.

That chance was created down the right again, where the home side are finding a lot of joy.

  5. Lennon praise for 'outstanding' Frimpongpublished at 21:09 British Summer Time 24 September 2020

    FT: Riga 0-1 Celtic

Celtic manager Neil Lennon is full of praise for his three substitute's this evening, especially the impact made by first-half replacement Jeremie Frimpong.

The 18-year-old was full of running in the second half and delivered the telling cross for Mohamed Elyounoussi, who came on for a tiring Odsonne Edouard.

"It was a great performance," Lennon said of Frimpong. "He was outstanding. He put two great balls in which we should have scored from and he still had the energy to keep going and set up the winner.

"All three subs made a huge contribution.

"We kept going we wore them down in the end and I'm really thrilled to be in the next round."

Lennon revealed that James Forrest, who made way for Frimpong, has bone bruising in his ankle and will definitely miss Sunday's game against Hibs.

Aberdeen have been in the game, they have provided some threat. Aberdeen just have to continue to frustrate Sporting and take their chance when it comes.

We're up and running again in Lisbon. Can Aberdeen find an equaliser?

  9. Gerrard's side clinical in front of goalpublished at 20:56 British Summer Time 24 September 2020

    HT: Willem II 0-2 Rangers

Despite a pretty strong performance from the Dutch side, Rangers go in at the break two goals to the good.

Willem II hit the bar and forced a superb diving save from Allan McGregor, looking dangerous at times, especially down the wings and through pacey winger Dries Saddiki.

Yet they still find themselves a couple of goals down, with Rangers clinical in front of goal where the home side have not been.

James Tavernier coolly slotted home a penalty straight down the middle after Ryan Kent was brought down in the area, and then just a few minutes later Kent pounced on a spillage from the goalie.

Rangers perhaps invited pressure after going two goals to the good, but with McGregor in fine form they are in a commanding position.

  10. Big team talk coming up for McInnespublished at 20:52 British Summer Time 24 September 2020

    HT: Sporting 1-0 Aberdeen

Derek McInnes will be glad his team are still in this one, but there's been little going forward for the visitors to suggest an equaliser has looked on the cards.

To their credit, they have steadied the ship after losing that early goal. There's been an aerial bombardment at times on the home box, but nothing to trouble the Portuguese. At the other end, Joe Lewis was needed to keep it down to just one goal of a deficit.

A big half-time team talk from McInnes, but this game is still there to be fought for.

  13. CLOSE!published at 20:43 British Summer Time 24 September 2020

    Sporting 1-0 Aberdeen

A corner from Sporting is not dealt with by Aberdeen. The ball breaks to Jovane Cabral, but Joe Lewis flies out to block as the Cape Verdean international was about to pounce.

Good goalkeeping from the Dons captain.

  14. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:42 British Summer Time 24 September 2020

    Willem II 0-2 Rangers

That is a top class stop from Allan McGregor.

Dries Saddiki finds himself one-on-one with the Rangers goalie after Vangelis Pavlidis squares it from the left.

But the save from McGregor is great, the ball striking his knee as he dives to his left.

A bit of a warning for the visitors, despite being two goals to the good.

  15. Postpublished at 20:39 British Summer Time 24 September 2020

    Willem II 0-2 Rangers

Steven Gerrard's side were a little cagey in the opening 15 minutes, but that quickfire double has given them a great deal of confidence - not least Glen Kamara, who bursts into the home box with quick feet but his cutback is hacked clear.

The scoreline doesn't reflect the performance. It was a really positive display from Motherwell but some poor defending and a mad minute from Declan Gallacher were ultimately decisive.

Aberdeen look like they've recovered from that early goal. Although they've not threatened they have looked organised. If they can keep it one nil there's always a chance.

    Rangers grab another!

That was almost a carbon copy of what happened down the other end 10 minutes ago – except Ryan Kent scores the rebound.

Willem II goalkeeper Robbin Ruiter spills a shot from Alfredo Morelos that he probably should have dealt with, and Kent capitalises on the mistake with great anticipation to toe-poke it in from a few yards out.

    Right down the middle!

James Tavernier gets his 50th Rangers goal from the spot, with a confident penalty. That will be a relief for the captain, after a period last season when duties from the spot were taken away from him.

Rangers were cagey in the opening 20 minutes, so that will give them plenty of confidence.
