Rangers manager Steven Gerrard explained his decision to bring in goalkeeper Allan McGregor in place of Jon McLaughlin.

“Experience, know-how, big saves in big moments in the last two journeys Allan has took us on," Gerrard told Rangers TV.

"He’s played a major part in the success we’ve had the past two years. He’s certainly looked sharper in training. I’ve got two keepers to pick from, it’s a tough decision every game, but I’ve gone with Allan tonight.

“You’ll see two technical teams. We need to keep their front four quiet, we need to be aggressive at all times. We know it will be a difficult game, but for me it’s about our performance and what we can give.”

If they prevail this evening, Rangers will be at home to Galatasaray or Hajduk Split next week.
