    Liverpool 0-0 Arsenal

Spurs are 2-1 up in their Europa League play-off with Maccabi Haifa.

They've only been playing 20 minutes. You can follow it here.

There's very little going on at Anfield in terms of excitement with half-time approaching.

  2. Postpublished at 62 mins

    Aston Villa 0-1 Stoke

Anwar El Ghazi is just unable to reach Keinan Davis' ball as Aston Villa continue to look for an equaliser. They've got just under 30 minutes to find one.

  3. Postpublished at 34 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Arsenal

First attempt on target by Liverpool arrives in the 35th minute - a low shot by Curtis Jones straight at Bernd Leno.

It's tame and easily dealt with.

Leroux De Villiers: Why are we not playing Saliba yet? Surely this would have been a good game to get used to the speed of the game and to play alongside Gabriel.

David Pellow: (re John 20:07) Arsenal reached three League Cup finals under Wenger. How could he be accused of not taking it seriously?

    Liverpool 0-0 Arsenal

Mo Salah tries to carve out an opening but his dink into the penalty area is easily dealt with. Mikel Arteta will be pleased with this. The Gunners have come to frustrate - and that's exactly what they are doing.

I've been hugely impressed by Bukayo Saka this season and last season. His versatility, he looks impressive at left-back and drives forward from midfielder. He's well balanced. He'll add a lot to the England squad over the next few years.

I thought he'd have been in [the last squad]. I was disappointed he wasn't. I thought he warranted a call.

    Aston Villa 0-1 Stoke

It looks like Aston Villa boss Dean Smith is considering changes. I am sure he is loathe to put on some first teamers, especially so early into the second half, but they are really struggling to trouble the Stoke defence.

  8. Postpublished at 28 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Arsenal

It's all a little scrappy. But what's this? Liverpool have a free-kick well outside the box. It's lofted into the Arsenal danger zone but there's no-one in red attacking it.

    Liverpool 0-0 Arsenal

By this stage in last season's tie we had already had three goals - with another couple on the way before the break.

  10. Postpublished at 25 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Arsenal

Two attempts in the opening 25 minutes - neither on target.

Arsenal have set up well and are doing a decent containing job.

    Aston Villa 0-1 Stoke

Tyrese Campbell has a shot blocked as Stoke try to grab a second.

Moments earlier, Adam Davies had a routine save to keep out Bertrand Traore's tame effort.

    Just a hunch, but I don't think we're going to get a 5-5 tonight.

Dave: All these passes out from the back from Arsenal. So many passes and they're still in their own 3rd (and under pressure) Crazy!!

John Dunstan: Strong-ish line-up from Arteta. Does that make him the first Arsenal manager since Bruce Rioch to take the league cup seriously?

  14. Postpublished at 21 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Arsenal

Around 20 minutes on the clock. Arsenal have come closest to scoring but Adrian made a smart stop to keep out Edward Nketiah.

Back under way at Villa Park as the hosts look to try and get back into this.

Liverpool play a high line and teams have cottoned on that if they need runners from midfield to capitalise.

  17. YELLOW CARDpublished at 16 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Arsenal

It's getting a little bit tasty out there.

Takumi Minamino is booked after a lunge on Bukayo Saka before an off-the-ball incident between Diogo Jota and Dani Ceballos.

Jota gets away with a lecture from Kevin Friend.

    That's more like it.

Great work by Curtis Jones who finds Diogo Jota in a good position and the Portuguese spots Marko Grujic but he cannot finish.

That would have been in the net if it had fallen to Mo Salah.

Alan Ferguson: Same Arsenal which is great to see. Try and walk the ball into the net. Two chances in the last few mins.

  20. Postpublished at 10 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Arsenal

Hesitant, uncertain and living dangerously at the back - this is not the greatest start by Liverpool.
