    Norway 1-0 Northern Ireland

Gavin Whyte is on now for Northern Ireland to add a bit of pace to the attack. He replaces Conor Washington.

  2. Postpublished at 73 mins

    Norway 1-0 Northern Ireland

I wonder if Erling Haaland - a big Leeds fan - is a bit star struck to be on the same pitch as Stuart Dallas?

The two swapped shirts when the two sides last met, with Haaland singing "Marching on Together", external to Dallas as they did.

  3. Postpublished at 70 mins

    Norway 1-0 Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland haven't managed a shot on or off target so far in this half.

They had a couple of decent opportunities early in the first half but haven't troubled the Norway defence enough since.

  4. 'Norway's corners have been dangerous'published at 21:12 British Summer Time 14 October 2020

    Norway 1-0 Northern Ireland

    John O'Neill
Former Northern Ireland defender on BBC Radio Ulster

Norway's corners have been very dangerous - it just shows you that if you put the ball in the box with pace they're hard to deal with. It's down to the fact that we're defending too much - you can't just keep defending for that a long period of time and not expect the opposition to eventually put away chances.

This is where it will get difficult for Northern Ireland now. When you're 1-0 down and you know you've got to chase it, sometimes your concentration can go. It's been a good performance up to now so we don't want to finish this game with a flurry of goals.

GOAL - Norway 1-0 Northern Irelandpublished at 68 mins

    Stuart Dallas OG

The visitors undone from a corner!

Martin Odegaard's delivery deflects into the Northern Ireland goal off Stuart Dallas' shoulder under pressure from Stefan Strandberg.

Very unfortunate for the visitors and they've got just over 20 minutes to find an equaliser.

  6. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 65 mins

    Norway 0-0 Northern Ireland

Couple of changes for Norway - Alexander Sorloth and Fredrik Midtsjo on for a Mathias Normann and Joshua King.

  7. Postpublished at 62 mins

    Norway 0-0 Northern Ireland

Conor McLaughlin does well to deal with an awkward bounce, heading back to Trevor Carson when under pressure from Joshua King.

There's a bit of a lull in the game at the moment with not many chances being created by either side.

  8. 'Northern Ireland need more quality'published at 21:03 British Summer Time 14 October 2020

    Norway 0-0 Northern Ireland

    John O'Neill
Former Northern Ireland defender on BBC Radio Ulster

Conor Washington is putting in a fair old shift, as is everyone else. That's one thing you'll always get with a Northern Ireland team is effort, but we just need that bit more quality. I don't know if that comes from bravery but we need more quality.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 60 mins

    Norway 0-0 Northern Ireland

Double change for Northern Ireland as Stuart Dallas and Paddy McNair come on for Michael Smith and George Saville.

  10. Postpublished at 57 mins

    Norway 0-0 Northern Ireland

Martin Odegaard's corner creeps all the way through to Stefan Strandberg, who is unmarked but he lashes over the bar from close range. A let off for Northern Ireland.

It has been all Norway so far in this half and the stats back that up.

The lively Omar Elabdellaoui cuts inside before firing the ball towards the far post where it is headed behind for a Norway corner.

  12. GREAT SAVE!published at 52 mins

    Norway 0-0 Northern Ireland

    Great save Trevor Carson!

The keeper, who was a last-minute replacement for Bailey Peacock-Farrell remember, gets down quickly to keep out a deflected Joshua King shot.

Carson has made three good saves so far in this game.

  13. Jonny Evans substituted at half timepublished at 20:54 British Summer Time 14 October 2020

    Norway 0-0 Northern Ireland

    John O'Neill
Former Northern Ireland defender on BBC Radio Ulster

We did see Jonny Evans holding his groin a bit, I would've been surprised to see him come back out after half time. He probably deserves to come off, it's not just the three games in seven days it's the travel and everything as well.

  14. Postpublished at 20:53 British Summer Time 14 October 2020

Two brothers captaining the same side in the same match - wonder how often that happens?

Got to be a quiz question in that!

Corry Evans is a bit too nonchalant inside his own box and is almost left red faced by Erling Haaland, but the Northern Ireland man manages to get out of danger.

  16. KICK-OFFpublished at 46 mins

    Norway 0-0 Northern Ireland

A change for the second half for Northern Ireland as Conor McLaughlin replaces Jonny Evans.

    We're back under way!

  17. 'It's night and day from the last performance'published at 20:47 British Summer Time 14 October 2020

    Norway 0-0 Northern Ireland

    Tommy Wright
Former Northern Ireland goalkeeper on Radio Ulster

One thing is that there doesn't seem to be a lot of space for Erling Haaland to get in behind because of the three defenders at the back. But Northern Ireland are playing two strikers up top so we've always got an outlet. They've had chances, but apart from the first minute with Haaland's chance and the last minute with his header, Norway haven't been able to create much. There seems to be more energy in the Northern Ireland team and there's a bit more tempo to the press.

There are players out there who need to prove a point and you could argue we've had the better chance with Josh Magennis. It's a much better performance than Sunday, they look more comfortable in shape and long may it continue into the second half.

It's night and day from Sunday against Austria and even more so from the last time we faced Norway.

  18. NI in the pink compared to Belfast hammeringpublished at 20:42 British Summer Time 14 October 2020

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Norway

    Mark Sterling
    BBC Sport NI

Anyone else struggling to get past the referee's luminous pink socks? An interesting choice, let's say, with his more traditional black top and shorts.

    Anyway.

It's so far, so good for Northern Ireland, especially so when you consider that at half-time in this fixture in Belfast last month they were well on their way to a 5-1 hammering.

It seems that Ian Baraclough is happy for his team to stick rigidly to their 5-3-2 shape and rely on the liveliness of front two Conor Washington and Josh Magennis to threaten on the attack.

And, it's working well enough. Haaland went close at the start and end of the half for the dominant hosts, but Magennis should have scored with a great chance on 19 minutes.

It will be interesting to see how the match develops when the inevitable substitutions arrive, but so far so good for NI.

  19. 'Defeat to Austria shrugged off'published at 20:38 British Summer Time 14 October 2020

    Norway 0-0 Northern Ireland

    John O'Neill
Former Northern Ireland defender on BBC Radio Ulster

Unfortunately if you could get somewhere on effort then Northern Ireland would be there every time but it's points and wins we need and we haven't got those.

It's almost like we can flick a switch and we can go from a performance that was so bad to now this. They've been able to shrug off the defeat to Austria.

Big chance for Norway on the stroke of half time but Erling Haaland directs his header straight at Trevor Carson.

    Goalless at the break.
