Well that turned out to be quite an exciting afternoon of Championship football - and a rather fruitful one for away sides wearing green.

A real game of two halves as Preston come from two down to win 4-2 at Brentford, and more late drama with Stoke rescuing a point against Birmingham.

Here's what the top of the Championship table looks like at the end of the fourth round of games, as we head into the first international break.

Bristol City and Reading lead the way with 100% records.

Birmingham missed the chance to move into the top six after failing to hold on to their lead at Stoke.

Nick Powell's late goal earns Stoke a much-deserved point.

There was a touch of fortune about it as his effort came off Birmingham defender Harlee Dean before spinning agonisingly over the line, but the hosts were good value for a point.

Dean himself put Blues ahead with a thumping header and Aitor Karanka's side remain unbeaten in the Championship.

Anywhere will do for Birmingham as they win possession in their own half.

Adam Clayton puts the ball into touch and Stoke rebuild once last time.

There's no aimlessly throwing the ball into the box here.

Michael O'Neill has Stoke remaining patient and picking their moments to cross.

Birmingham are holding on a tad - we have two minutes of added time left.

It's Stoke who are pressing for a decisive goal.

Sub Scott Hogan stumbles past his man but his effort is wild as Birmingham look for a late winner.

Birmingham react to that late setback by bringing on Scott Hogan for Lukas Jutkiewicz.

All this is playing into Birmingham's hands as they make the most of any stoppages in play.

Is it simply not going to be Steven Fletcher's day?

He hit the bar in the first half and has gone close on a couple other occasions, and this time heads over after a fine dribble and cross from Stoke sub Tyrese Campbell.

We're into the 84th minute.

Morgan Fox catches the ankle of Birmingham midfielder Ivan Sanchez and is yellow-carded.

The free-kick is right by the corner flag and the visitors are running down the clock and frustrating Stoke in the process.

Steven Fletcher gets involved in the build-up of a Stoke attack, but that means there isn't really anyone in the area to get on the end of Tommy Smith's cross.

James McClean is on for Josh Tymon as the Potters look to throw the kitchen sink at this with 10 minutes left.

Stoke are knocking it about quite nicely and will hope someone like Nick Powell will have the craft to unlock this disciplined Birmingham backline.

The Blues are having the occasional chance to break but prefer to hold the ball and take the sting out of it.

Steven Fletcher stands over a free-kick for Stoke in a similar position to where he struck the bar in the first half.

This time he plays a one-two with Sam Clucas but his shot flies well over the Birmingham bar.

A defensive move or a change in shape?

Stoke almost respond instantly - Sam Clucas surges down the left and his slick low cross is desperately cleared by a Birmingham defender, with Steven Fletcher lurking for a tap-in.
