There were no shots on target in the first half.

Stoke have conceded just four goals in their past seven Championship games, while Birmingham have only one won from 17 league matches.

So maybe we shouldn't be so surprised.

Before the second half kicks off at the Bet365 Stadium, a reminder that Saturday's EFL action produced its usual wide range of talking points.

From calls for more coronavirus testing to a 1,500th match in charge for one manager, as well as a "bittersweet" hat-trick for one player.

Here are five things you may have missed this weekend across the Championship, League One and League Two.

Not quite the same level of drama at The Bet365 Stadium, though Lee Gregory heads over for Stoke from just a couple yards out on the stroke of half-time - colliding with the post in the process.

The hosts have created all the chances, Steven Fletcher striking a 25-yard free-kick against the woodwork after curling an earlier effort wide.

Birmingham started brightly but haven't looked threatening.

What a second half this has been for Preston.

Their fourth goal comes from a corner from the left which goes to the back post, where Ben Davies causes confusion in the home defence.

The ball drops to Sean Maguire, who finishes smartly from close range.

Now Preston have a two-goal lead to defend.

Hands up, who thought Brentford had the game safe at 2-0?

How about this for a comeback?

Preston continue their spell of pressure and grab a third goal in the space of 12 second-half minutes.

Ryan Ledson finds Brad Potts, and the winger turns and advances into the Brentford area on the left hand side.

He takes time to cut inside on his right foot before unleashing a low strike into the bottom left-hand corner.

That is a fine finish, and Preston have responded brilliantly since the break.
