Richarlison does have an effort this time as he collects the ball 25 yards out before firing a hopeful shot over.

But they also look vulnerable at the back. Firmino's low ball is aimed towards Jordan Henderson but a combination of Godfrey and Keane prevents him getting a touch from a few yards out.

    Everton 1-1 Liverpool

Richarlison almost gets his first sight of goal as a low ball from Abdoulaye Doucoure flashes just in front his sliding attempt in the box.

After being penned in early on, the Blues are looking far more of a threat now.

If players can be red-carded after the final whistle, how come they can't be sent off if a player was offside?

    Tim, Marlow

Pickford should be off for that. LFC punished twice for a typically incompetent and dishonest challenge by a keeper so poor he rivals Adrian for 'League's Worst'.

    Dom, London

The mind boggles how that was not a red for Pickford you can endanger a player but its ok if their eyelash is offside...VAR a joke(and not a funny one!)

Just seen another replay of the Pickford "challenge" on Van Dijk. It gets worse every time.

Could so easily (and there are plenty arguing that it should) have been a red for the keeper.

To be fair, Phil, James Rodriguez has just charged back to prevent Mane getting hold of the ball deep down the Everton left.

Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti was in deep consultation with son Davide - complete with diagrams and clipboard - even before that injury to Seamus Coleman.

Ben Godfrey is on for his debut at right-back and Liverpool will feel this is an area they can work on. James Rodriguez has many qualities but chasing back is not one of them.

    Should be 2-1 Liverpool.

It is almost a repeat of the opener as Robertson sets up Mane near the penalty spot, but in opening up his foot the striker shanks the shot wide.

Thiago goes close. The midfielder, making his first start for Liverpool, fires a shot wide from the edge of the box.

Just the first signs of centre-back Godfrey being out of position at right-back. Mane turned him and came inside way too easily to set up the chance.

What a time to make your debut. On comes Ben Godfrey, signed recently from Norwich. Coleman hands the Blues captain's armband to Lucas Digne.

Are Everton going to lose a defender of their own? Seamus Coleman is down, the game has been stopped. Looks like a change is imminent.

    Yep, it's a hamstring tweak.

As wonderful a side as Liverpool let's see how they cope without the spine of defence as City did last year .. Can sense the Liverpool fan frustrations when it all doesn't go their way ..

    Dominic Bowers

Mane has cheated there. No contact. Down he goes holding his head. Michael Oliver conned into giving s free kick in a dangerous position.

    Ian

That equaliser shows the transformation Ancelotti has made at Everton. Yes he's brought in big players, but he's instilled a winning mentality that Silva could never muster. Up the Toffees!

That long, driven ball to Calvert-Lewin is the one Everton keep eyeing up. They clearly fancy the striker's touch and pace to take advantage of a high Liverpool line.

It worked for the equaliser, comprising the move that earned them the corner from which they scored.

Henry Petit: Adrian could be the worst keeper to have ever played in the league - the fact he made it as a premier league player still give me hope, might take up keeping

Jack Langley: We haven't seen an Everton side come back from a goal down in about 5 years. The team finally has some resolve in them!

John Caffeine: Not sure what these goalkeepers are up to nowadays.

    Redemption for Pickford.

Alexander-Arnold is the man to curl an effort on goal and it is heading for the top corner until the Everton keeper meets it with a brilliant diving save.

Tom Lawrence: Anything Everton get from this game is tainted by the ludicrous decision by pickford to end van dijk and not get sent off

Michael Reid: Without Van Dijk and Allison - defensively Liverpool are awful in the midfield and defence.

Dennis: Adrian isn’t good enough for the premier league

    Michael Keane

    Level!

The corner (and absence of Van Dijk) proves costly for Liverpool as Michael Keane rises highest to power a header into the net from Rodriguez's delivery.

Adrian's wrists are made of tissue paper, though. The ball pretty much flew through his attempted save.
