    West Brom 0-0 Burnley

Another crunching challenge from Erik Pieters, who is doing a job on the right of the Burnley defence today.

In the Premier League you're never more than six foot away from a Chelsea loanee and it's Conor Gallagher who gets crunched this time.

    West Brom 0-0 Burnley

West Brom nearly break through the Burnley lines on halfway and Grady Diangana would have been away - but Erik Pieters makes a vital challenge.

Goalkeeper Sam Johnstone has made that number one spot his own for the Baggies. But I like Dwight McNeil for Burnley. Old fashioned, he beats the full-back.

    West Brom 0-0 Burnley

Charlie Taylor and Branislav Ivanovic exchange some proper, old school, hoofed clearances. AWAY.

Better from the Clarets as Dwight McNeil rattles in a cracking cross from the left and Sam Johnstone only just deals with that.

    West Brom 0-0 Burnley

West Brom have had 70% of the early possession, both managers are prowling the brink of their technical zones. You wouldn't want to get caught up in a brawl between these two would you?

  6. Postpublished at 8 mins

    West Brom 0-0 Burnley

Burnley now have a spell of pressure as wingers Dwight McNeil and Johann Gudmundsson both sling crosses into the mixer. Albion keeper Sam Johnstone looks uncomfortable but he gets out of jail with a whistle from referee Anthony taylor.

  7. 'I don't think Burnley will get relegated'published at 17:37 British Summer Time 19 October 2020

    Clinton Morrison
Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's a big day for West Brom - they have to start winning their home matches.

I don't think Burnley will get relegated. Sean Dyche is a very good manager. Slowly their injured players will return for them.

    West Brom 0-0 Burnley

Great defending! And it had to be. Matheus Pereira's cross from the right is headed back across and Karlan Grant is there for the loose ball - but Kevin Long stretches out to make a cracking block.

Burnley actually get a goal kick but that was superb defending.

I'll tell you whatever I tell my wife when we are late - just leave earlier Clinton. You could have got there mid afternoon and just relaxed.

Anyway, the home side have started well.

  10. Morrison apologises for arriving latepublished at 17:33 British Summer Time 19 October 2020

    Clinton Morrison
Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

On arriving late for his co-commentary role: "[Jokingly] To be fair, West Brom have to sort out the parking! I apologise though and will make up for it."

  11. CLOSE!published at 3 mins

    West Brom 0-0 Burnley

The West Brom names and numbers are impossible to read, they've had a shocker there. A good counter from the home side ends with the sprightly debutant Karlan Grant having a shot blocked.

From the corner Filip Krovinovic slides a shot wide from 20-odd yards.

Clinton Morrison late for his co-comms shift on 5 Live. Oh hold on, here he comes, seconds after we kick off.

  13. KICK-OFFpublished at 1 min

    West Brom 0-0 Burnley

Away we go! Burnley's yellow and claret away kit is a solid 8/10 for me. Nice.

  14. 'We're ready for the first win'published at 17:29 British Summer Time 19 October 2020

West Brom v Burnley (17:30 BST)

    West Bromwich Albion

West Brom manager Slaven Bilic: "I picked the best team for today's game. It's a team with energy and positiveness.

"A victory would be massive. We're ready for the first win. Early days but it's a massive game for both of us."

  15. 'We have to get it right both ends of the pitch'published at 17:27 British Summer Time 19 October 2020

West Brom v Burnley (17:30 BST)

    Burnley

Burnley boss Sean Dyche on the poor start to the season: "We've had a few challenges with injuries. We have to get both ends of the pitch right. Too many sloppy goals and we've not been sharp enough in attack. We want to take the game on. We've increased our capacity to get points away from home."

About that hope for goals: West Brom (26) and Burnley (24) are the teams to have recorded the fewest shot attempts this Premier League season.

Burnley have only played three times though to be fair. We are almost ready to get going...

West Brom v Burnley (17:30 BST)

    West Bromwich Albion

    I know what you're thinking - this could be a turgid 0-0.

But have faith! For one thing, West Brom have conceded 13 goals in their four Premier League matches this season – only Swindon in 1993-94 and Southampton in 2012-13 (both 14) have shipped more four games into a Premier League campaign.

The league as a collective seems to have given up on defending this year so let's have plenty more...

It's a big test too for Karlan Grant.

The 23-year-old, who bagged 19 goals in the Championship for Huddersfield last season, and struck four times in 13 appearances the season before when the Terriers were in the Premier League, has put pen to paper on a six-year contract at West Brom.

    Wooof.
