    Offside!

By recent standards Mo Salah is off by a fair way. A good few inches at least.

WHAT a touch! Mo Salah controls a Trent Alexander-Arnold ball in superbly, readjusts and then volleys into the far corner.

But hang on, the lines are coming out...

  3. CLOSE!published at 61 mins

Well played! Oliver Burke skins Fabinho out wide and drives into the area, the angle is tight but he smashes in a low shot which Alisson has to parry out. Another slightly worrying moment for Liverpool's number three.

    But it's alright...

Good pressure from Oliver Burke as he shuts down Alisson really sharply. The Brazilian's touch is just off perfect and he's nearly robbed. He acknowledges his error. First night rust.

These bizarre kick-off times and staggered match days plus some strange laws (offside and handball) are making it difficult for me to get interested in our beautiful game this season. Am I the only one??

Re Ciaran 21:00 - the PL need to release the PPV viewing figures. If it's not working then we need to rethink things. As much as the food banks are welcoming the cash, we could donate and watch on existing platforms.

Immense from Sander Berge again. I've seen him more than a few times and wondered if the fee was overdone but he's been brilliant tonight. First he wins the ball on the edge of his own area and then pops up on the far post and heads down for George Baldock, who fires across goal and it's deflected just wide.

It’s been a strange game, Liverpool have dominated territory and possession but it’s Sheffield United who have created the vast majority of the best chances.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are really lacking creativity in midfield. Far be it from me to disagree with the the great man but I’m not sure the system with what is almost a front four with Diogo Jota is really working.

They could do with an extra midfielder.

I’m expecting much better from the Reds in the second half but credit to United, they’re giving it a real go.

Klopp looked agitated in the technical area.

Ash Williams: How does VAR give that penalty vs Liverpool but not give Chelsea a penalty for Maguire’s headlock? Sometimes it feels like the officials make it up as they go along.

I have decided not to send any texts anymore mentioning the tool used by worst officials in Europe. It will be a fair statement to say that I feel relieved and relaxed.
