West Ham manager David Moyes, speaking to Sky Sports: "I’m amazed that a penalty was given in the first half. I can’t believe that we’re allowing those sorts of penalties to be awarded.

"We weren’t clinical enough at times. We missed a couple of really good opportunities to get another goal.

"In a lot of games we feel we can challenge. We go into many games thinking we’ve got a chance. I wouldn’t say we were unlucky today, but I’m really disappointed when we were 1-0 up that the penalty was given."

On Sebastien Haller: "I think Sebastien has got a lot to offer us. Hopefully he’ll show that in the weeks to come."

West Ham United

West Ham manager David Moyes, speaking to Match of the Day: "It’s a good sign that we’re disappointed not to take anything from Anfield. The players are disappointed not to get anything from the game.

"We had really good opportunities to maybe get a second goal. I wanted it to be more than just the odd counter-attack. We were a threat, we were well organised and disciplined in the jobs we had to do.

"The plan is to get better. We want to make sure the players play well when they get the chance. They certainly did that today."

On Liverpool’s penalty: "It’s not the sort of football I want to be involved in. I think our player stops and throws his arms up because he’s so disappointed about the dive.

"I’m just disappointed they didn’t turn the decision around. Maybe in the second half the decision [Jota’s disallowed goal] went for us, but the first-half one didn’t."

Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, speaking to Sky Sports: "It’s so difficult with the number of games we have. Seeing the determination and desire of the boys, the will to play football, to deal with setbacks is really exceptional.

"Football is always about finding the right way, and tonight the boys found it. Obviously I loved the second goal. It was super play. Shaq’s in incredible form at the moment, and Diogo Jota obviously.

"All these kinds of things, that’s what we had to do over the 95 minutes. Every set-piece they had is a major threat for them, but we dealt with it really well.

"The tricky thing is that you have to be patient, but also lively to keep them moving. It’s a constant concentration level you have to keep up, which we did - except maybe for their goal."

On Nathaniel Phillips’ performance: "The counter-press of the two centre-halves was exceptional. Nat Phillips, wow. I couldn’t be more happy. I asked him before the game if he was nervous. I told him I would be. He was awake from the first second, played his stuff and had a good game."

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp speaking to Match of the Day: "The world is in a difficult place and we are happy to be allowed to play football. So we have to try everything to win football games. It's not about shining, or flying, or whatever, it's about hard work... that was absolutely necessary against this opponent. It's not about the simple stuff because they are too good for that - you need to be cheeky, tricky as well, and we were.

"We had a lot of good football - not 500 chances or whatever but enough. It's a real challenge for the concentration levels, and we did it. I don't want to see us in a moment be brilliant because it's not possible, I want to see us dig in and we did that, and i'm so, so happy.

On Nathaniel Phillips: "He's a brilliant guy, smart guy, intelligent, everything. He's not easy on the eye, he's not Messi but who cares? In the air, he's a monster! He was incredible.

"For the first game, I think everyone can imagine how nervy that must be after a long wait. It's a crazy story, three years ago he was on his way to America to go to college. Twelve Championship teams wanted him and to me it was clear he was going, and I was fine with that - and it didn't work out for whatever reason, and it's great! Tonight he was spot on, helped the team incredibly.

On goalscorer Diogo Jota: "We fought really hard to sign him. We didn't need to convince him too much, but we had to fight for it. He's an exceptional talent. He has the speed, physicality, technique, he's both-footed... He's much better than I thought he would be and that's really impressive."

West Ham’s Pablo Fornals is the only visiting player to score two Premier League goals at Liverpool since the start of last season. Half of his four Premier League goals have come at Anfield (two).

Since David Moyes’ first game back in charge of West Ham in January, the Hammers have dropped more points from winning positions than any other side in the Premier League (16).

West Ham defender Aaron Cresswell, speaking to Sky Sports: "We’re a little bit disappointed to leave here with nothing. We knew it wasn’t going to be easy. We were dealing with pressure at times, but sometimes we could have taken our chances a little bit better.

"On another night we could have got something out of it. To come to Anfield and feel disappointed is a sign of progress, but we go again next week.

"Against teams like this we’re not going to dominate for 90 minutes. We’re disappointed we haven’t come away with anything, which is frustrating. But we need to keep working on the training ground and prepare for the next game."

On Liverpool’s penalty: "It looked soft, but VAR’s there for a reason and I’m sure it was the right decision."

Liverpool are only the second side in Premier League history to concede the first goal in three consecutive home matches but still win all three, after Blackburn Rovers in November 2009.

Liverpool's Nathaniel Phillips on his Premier League debut: "It's massive, something that I dreamed of growing up. To have that opportunity was huge for me and huge for my family. Really happy, and even more so to get a good result.

"I think it was important to do the basics early on, to settle any nerves, not try and complicate things too much. As the minutes go on, you settle in to the game. I really enjoyed it - a tough battle, a lot of aerial battles, but that's my strength so I enjoyed that side of it.

"I've just been concentrating on this weekend up until now, but if the opportunity does arise again I've got to make sure I'm ready for that.

"It's been a strange one, because it looked like I might have been on my way out of the club, because I had a lot of interest and I was looking forward to getting my career started. That didn't come through and obviously I'm quite happy it didn't!"

Diogo Jota has scored six goals in his last nine home league appearances.

Liverpool forward Diogo Jota, speaking to Sky Sports: "The goal means a lot. Seeing the game on the bench, I’m always thinking about what I can do to change things.

"The most important thing was the win, we just want to keep winning games. With so many games you have to keep moving. Fortunately in the end I got the space. It was a great pass from Shaq.

"I played two games in the starting 11 before this one. It’s a team. The manager chooses the 11, we need to do our job."

On his disallowed goal: "I didn’t see anything suspicious, but that’s football now. We need to wait."
