  1. Postpublished at 20 mins

    Portugal 0-0 Spain

Gerard is onto a loose ball inside the box after Pepe blocks a shot but the Villarreal striker's shot from close range is into the sidenetting.

  2. Postpublished at 17 mins

    Portugal 0-0 Spain

Rodrigo tries his luck again from distance as the Portugal defence backs off. It is well struck but no trouble for Rui Patricio.

  3. Postpublished at 15 mins

    Portugal 0-0 Spain

Quite nice to hear organic reactions to what happens on the pitch after months of mainly hearing the artificial crowd sounds being pumped in.

Admittedly there hasn't been much yet for the home fans to get excited about as Cristiano Ronaldo is flagged offside following a rare Portugal attack.

  4. Postpublished at 12 mins

    Portugal 0-0 Spain

Dani Olmo warms the gloves of Rui Patricio as Spain continue to up the shots count.

  5. Postpublished at 11 mins

    Portugal 0-0 Spain

Leeds striker Rodrigo fizzes a strong effort just wide of the post as Spain attack again.

The visitors are in full control of this one. Cristiano Ronaldo has pretty much had as many touches of the ball as some of those fans in the stands.

  6. Postpublished at 10 mins

    Portugal 0-0 Spain

First touch for Kepa in the Spain goal as he plays a straightforward pass to Sergi Roberto. He hasn't had anything of note to do but a clean sheet would be a big confidence booster for the Chelsea keeper.

  7. Postpublished at 8 mins

    Portugal 0-0 Spain

Now Sergio Canales races away down the left and whips a fierce cross in. Raphael Guerreiro gets a great block in and the ball balloons up into the air before Dani Olmo volleys well wide.

Excellent start by Spain. I don't think Portugal have had a touch of the ball yet!

  8. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Portugal 0-0 Spain

Lovely disguised pass by Dani Ceballos slips in Dani Olmo and the young forward is in behind the Portugal defence but the angle is tight and he fires across the face of goal. All Spain in these opening exchanges.

  9. CLOSE!published at 3 mins

    Portugal 0-0 Spain

Lively start by Spain as they attack straight from the off. Gerard Moreno is onto a low cross from the left but Rui Patricio is alert to close down the striker and block his shot before Sergio Busquets launches the loose ball high over the goal and out of the ground.

  10. KICK-OFFpublished at 1 min

    Portugal v Spain (19:45 BST)

Tonight's game acts as a warm up for Portugal and Spain ahead of their Nations League fixtures.

Portugal are top of Group 3 - ahead of France on goal difference - and the two sides meet in Paris on Sunday before Portugal then play Sweden in Lisbon next week.

Spain, meanwhile, are top of Group 4 and host Switzerland in Madrid on Saturday before travelling to Ukraine in Kiev next week.

Spain coach Luis Enrique has urged goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga to rise to the challenge of losing the number one spot at Chelsea and prove his talent with the national team.

Kepa has recently been dropped by Blues coach Frank Lampard for new new signing Edouard Mendy.

"Kepa is not in a nice situation, but it is not the end of the world," Enrique said.

"It's the ideal moment for him to rise again, for us to see what Kepa is made of. What he is going through at Chelsea now is something that happens to all players throughout their careers."

Another reason to keep an eye on Ukraine's friendly with France tonight is because the former have included 45-year-old assistant coach Oleksandr Shovkovskiy in their squad after three goalkeepers tested positive for Covid-19.

Georgiy Bushchan is Ukraine's only available keeper so ex-Dynamo Kiev keeper Shovkovskiy, who retired in 2016, is on the bench.

He is part of Ukraine manager Andriy Shevchenko's coaching set-up.

That was at the 2018 World Cup, when Cristiano Ronaldo bagged a hat-trick in a thrilling 3-3 draw.

It may only be a friendly tonight, but encounters between these two sides are rarely ever dull.
