    Celtic 0-0 Rangers

An excellent challenge from Filip Helander inside his own six-yard box sets up a Rangers breakaway.

Alfredo Morelos evades a challenge and drives a cross across the face of goal. There are no takers before Borna Barisis blazes over at the back post under pressure.

    End-to-end stuff already.

Celtic have started with a back three, with Welsh on the right of it, but I'm curious to see if it's going to stay that way or if Lennon will flex it around

    St Mirren v Motherwell (15:00)

St Mirren's Premiership match against Motherwell has been postponed after another of the Paisley's club's first-team players tested positive for Covid-19.

St Mirren say "a number of additional players" are now required to self-isolate.

As a result, they informed the SPFL they could not fulfil Saturday's fixture.

  7. Welsh and Klimala add 'hunger' - Lennonpublished at 12:29 British Summer Time 17 October 2020

    Celtic v Rangers (12:30)

Celtic manager Neil Lennon is a veteran of these fixtures, but the big difference this year is the lack of fans.

"You miss the build-up and driving in to the stadium when there's people lining the streets waiting for you to come in," he tells BBC Scotland's Sportsound.

On picking Stephen Welsh and Patryk Klimala, Lennon said: "It's great, you don't get much time to think about it. He [Welsh] trains with us every day, he's part of the squad and never let us down, so no problem playing him.

"[Patryk] Klimala is hungry. What these two will give us is an effervescence, a hunger and desire which has maybe been lacking in some areas."

Asked if he was annoyed about his team being leaked on social media last night, Lennon added: "You have no idea. But I don't want to comment on it now."

  9. No 'fear' factor for Rangers - Gerrardpublished at 12:21 British Summer Time 17 October 2020

    Celtic v Rangers (12:30)

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has urged his side to replicate the performance that secured a 2-1 win at Celtic Park when the sides last met 10 months ago.

"We come here in a different place than when I first took charge," Gerrard told Sky Sports.

"You could see a bit of fear because we had been on the receiving end of some really bad results in this fixture, but we can now tap into recent performances against Celtic.

"I have told the players to go and express themselves and believe in themselves. We did it last year because to a man we carried out a gameplan and we need to do the same today."

    Quote Message

The pedigree of Celtic means they usually get the job done, so I would not write them off. I can see why people go for Rangers with Celtic having so many rookies, but I go for a draw

Neil Lennon is down to the bare bones. It is a huge blow to lose Edouard as he is a big player for them. I don't think Elyounoussi will play up front with Klimala and will be in a midfield diamond. If Rangers are ever going to do it, today's the day

Rangers' December win at Celtic Park ended a run of three defeats there.

The two sides have alternated between victory and defeat in their last six league meetings.

But Rangers haven't won back-to-back Old Firm league games since October 2009 and last won two in a row at Celtic Park in March 1997.

  16. Goals aplenty or defences on top?published at 12:07 British Summer Time 17 October 2020

    Celtic v Rangers (12:30)

It is a match-up between two sides who have become goalscoring and winning machines, domestically and also in Europe.

Celtic are seeking a ninth consecutive victory and their fourth on their own patch, while Rangers are unbeaten in their most recent 12 games, including all seven away from home.

Today's hosts have scored three goals in all three of their home league matches this season. The visitors have found the net 18 times in their latest five games away from Ibrox.

Chances are it's going to be a high-scoring game then? Think again - Celtic have not conceded in four games while Rangers have only been breached three times in 10 league games so far.

  17. Hagi or Morelos key for Rangers?published at 12:05 British Summer Time 17 October 2020

    Celtic v Rangers (12:30)

Ianis Hagi is on Rangers' bench, which is a bit of a surprise given his creative influence.

The 21-year-old Romanian midfielder has been involved in nine goals for his side since arriving, initially on loan, in February - three more than any other player in the Ibrox squad. He has assisted in three of Rangers' last four goals in open play.

In contrast, while Alfredo Morelos has returned from international duty with an assist of his own in Colombia's draw with Chile, the striker has still not found the net against Celtic in 10 outings against the Scottish champions.

  18. Hammer of Rangers a major loss?published at 12:03 British Summer Time 17 October 2020

    Celtic v Rangers (12:30)

Odsonne Edouard's exclusion could be significant given the French striker's record against Rangers.

Only against Motherwell has the 22-year-old scored more than the six goals he has fired against Celtic's city rivals.

In his four league appearances at Celtic Park against today's visitors, he has been involved in six goals - scoring four and setting up the others.

  19. Rangers out to repeat last Old Firm derbypublished at 12:01 British Summer Time 17 October 2020

    Celtic v Rangers (12:30)

Rangers won 2-1 on their last visit to Celtic Park in December, Nikola Katic, who has been injured for much of this season, heading the Ibrox side's winner after host striker Odsonne Edouard had cancelled out Ryan Kent's opener.

That narrowed the gap to two points with a game in hand going into the winter break, but Rangers' season fell apart after that and Celtic were named champions when Covid-19 pandemic ended the season prematurely.

This time, Rangers can little afford to lose as they attempt to prevent Celtic securing a historic 10th title in a row. A Celtic win would put Neil Lennon's side two points clear at the top with a game in hand.

  20. Beaton refereepublished at 11:58 British Summer Time 17 October 2020

    Celtic v Rangers (12:30)

John Beaton is taking charge of his first Old Firm game since being targeted with death threats and online abuse in December 2018.

Celtic had called for the referee to be allowed to explain his decisions publicly after he did not punish striker Alfredo Morelos for clashes with Anthony Ralston, Ryan Christie and Scott Brown during a 1-0 win for the Ibrox side.

Let's hope Beaton enjoys a less stormy, controversy free 90 minutes this time.
