  2. What's nextpublished at 21:40 British Summer Time 20 October 2020

    FT: Aberdeen 4-2 Hamilton Academical

Derek McInnes says he's delighted with the progress of his side going into what he describes as "two huge games", at home to second-top Celtic on Sunday then entertaining fourth-placed Hibs on 6 November.

For Brian Rice, he has to gather his side and stop the leak of goals as prepare to visit second-bottom St Mirren, who have their own troubles at the moment with Covid-19 absentees.

Before then, of course, join us for coverage of Thursday's Europa League ties, with Celtic entertaining AC Milan and Rangers away to Standard Liege.

  3. 'Good array of goals' for Dons bosspublished at 21:35 British Summer Time 20 October 2020

    FT: Aberdeen 4-2 Hamilton Academical

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes tells BBC Sportsound: "Very pleased, first-half performance in particular was terrific.

"It was a good array of goals. We got a penalty box goal, a set play goal, a shot from distance - everything that wasn't there on Saturday.

"We got a set play goal, which pleased me because we've not had enough of them this season. Edmundson getting two goals, for a young boy leading the line, I thought he was terrific and Ferguson - what a goal.

"Credit to Hamilton, they might be bottom of the league, but they are top on spirit."

  5. Accies 'two completely different teams' - Ricepublished at 21:24 British Summer Time 20 October 2020

    FT: Aberdeen 4-2 Hamilton Academical

Hamilton head coach Brian Rice tells BBC Sportsound: "For 20 minutes, we went through a crazy spell, found ourselves completely out the game and then, it's hard to explain, we come right into it, get ourselves two goals and second half we pushed them all the way.

"That was two completely different teams out there for me.

"A couple of the Aberdeen goals, we could've done better. Second half was probably the best we've played this season. But it's after the horse has bolted."

  6. Yeah Burt, no Burt, yes Burt?published at 21:18 British Summer Time 20 October 2020

    FT: Aberdeen 4-2 Hamilton Academical

Former Celtic and Rangers midfielder Liam Burt was a surprise guest at Pittodrie this evening, which will fuel rumours of interest in the 21-year-old from Aberdeen.

Burt, who also had a trial with Sunderland, trained with Barnsley last month and scored three times in friendlies against Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County. However, a permanent contract did not materialise for the player released by Celtic this summer.

  7. What next for Accies?published at 21:09 British Summer Time 20 October 2020

    FT: Aberdeen 4-2 Hamilton Academical

How long can Accies head coach Brian Rice continue with his more adventurous playing style?

He's trying to have them playing a passing game, but that's 17 goals they've conceded in their latest five games.

Their only win in seven games has come in the League Cup at home to Championship side Ayr United and they have lost five of them.

This latest high-scoring defeat means they are further behind St Mirren on goal difference at the foot of the table having played a game more.

    Dark clouds over Hamilton.

Overall, Derek McInnes can only be happy. They showed a couple of sides to their game tonight. Great attacking play in the first half and they soaked up the pressure in the second

Edmondson will take a lot from those goals. You could see he was delighted. Derek McInnes will be happy to win the game in hand, but they've got two huge games coming up

  11. All coming good for Aberdeenpublished at 21:01 British Summer Time 20 October 2020

    FT: Aberdeen 4-2 Hamilton Academical

Where Aberdeen were wasteful in front of goal on Saturday in the goalless draw with Dundee United, they were clinical against Accies.

That's four games unbeaten, three of them victories, nine goals in the three other than the one at Tannadice and now Derek McInnes' side are only three points behind second-top Celtic.

Ryan Edmondson's double in his first start on loan from Leeds comes at a time when fellow striker Sam Cosgrove makes the bench for the first time since February while Matty Kennedy and Greg Leigh also return from injury.

It's all coming up roses for Aberdeen in time for two big games to come - against Celtic and fourth-placed Hibs.

    Willie Miller
Former Scotland defender on BBC Sportsound

I don't think you can point the finger at Hamilton and say they had a lack of effort or spirit. But you need more than that to win a football game. They have got to try and be a little be more defensively minded

    James McFadden
Former Scotland forward on BBC Radio Scotland

    Quote Message

I get what Brian Rice is trying to do and you've got to admire some of their attacking play. But Hamilton can't wait until your 3-0 down to start playing. They have to cut out the indiviudal mistakes, it's costing them

  14. FULL-TIME Aberdeen 4-2 Hamilton Academicalpublished at 20:50 British Summer Time 20 October 2020

Aberdeen ease to victory to move a point above Hibs into third place in the Premiership and with a game in hand still to come.

Hamilton are stuck at the bottom of the table.

It was all too easy for the Dons, with three goals in the first 24 minutes - the second time in two games that Accies have had to come back from such a deficit in a matter of days.

Hamilton did mount a mini fightback again, as they did against St Johnstone, but it was too little, too late.

    Quote Message

There's a lot to like about Hamilton, but there's a lot that they need to work on. Everyone's for attacking football, but if this continues, they won't be in the league much longer
