  1. Aberdeen fan bid rejectedpublished at 18:12 British Summer Time 20 October 2020

    Aberdeen v Hamilton Academical (19:00)

Aberdeen chairman Dave Cormack is making a habit of grabbing the headlines with Twitter statements delivered from his home in the United States and the latest came last night when he suggested that there was a lack of a "real plan" by clubs and Scottish government for the return of fans to their stadiums.

He revealed that his club wanted to stage a second test event for Sunday's visit of Celtic but that the proposal to allow 1,000 supporters into Pittodrie had been rejected by the government.

The Dons were one of two clubs to host a test event last month, but further pilots were put on hold amid the rise in Covid-19 cases in Scotland.

Aberdeen commercial director Rob Wicks will be explaining more about his club's latest moves on Sportsound shortly.

  2. Accies without self-isolating duopublished at 18:09 British Summer Time 20 October 2020

    Aberdeen v Hamilton Academical (19:00)

Hamilton have had their own troubles with Covid and tonight will be without defender Jamie Hamilton and forward Andy Winter after the pair were forced to self-isolate after coming into contact with coach Billy Stark, who tested positive, while on Scotland Under-19 duty.

You wouldn't blame Accies head coach Brian Rice, whose side sit bottom of the table, for being a bit miffed that Aberdeen hadn't been forced to play the original fixture without the eight players involved in the original postponement.

However, the former Nottingham Forest midfielder is fairly philosophical, pointing out that: "It's going to be like that this season. It's going to affect everybody sometimes."

  3. Eightsome left Dons reelingpublished at 18:06 British Summer Time 20 October 2020

    Aberdeen v Hamilton Academical (19:00)

Hamilton were originally due to visit Pittodrie on the third weekend of the Premiership season, but the game was called off on Scottish government instructions after eight Aberdeen players broke lockdown rules by visiting a city restaurant and pub following their opening day defeat by Rangers.

The Dons' games away to St Johnstone and Celtic were also postponed, but they have since caught up with the one due in Perth, winning 1-0.

Another win tonight and Derek McInnes' side would move a point above Hibernian into third place in the Premiership - and still with a game in hand.

  5. Covid-19 cloud over Pittodrie meetingpublished at 18:01 British Summer Time 20 October 2020

    Aberdeen v Hamilton Academical (19:00)

With Scottish football embroiled in more Covid-19 controversy and the fallout from the weekend's Old Firm derby ahead of Celtic and Rangers starting their Europa League group campaigns on Thursday, it may have been forgotten that there is a match tonight.

But controversy also surrounded the reasons why Aberdeen and Hamilton Academical are meeting tonight at Pittodrie - and the home club have also sparked a debate about government policy ahead of kick-off.

Stay with us for more on that and a short, sharp build-up on BBC Radio Scotland and here online to what is an unusually early kick-off, 19:00 BST.
