  1. goal

GOAL: Bournemouth 0-1 Derbypublished at 15:14 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2020

    Graeme Shinnie (14 mins)

Derby take the lead at Bournemouth and it's a scrappy one too.

Graeme Shinnie will be awarded it, but the final touch looked to have come off Steve Cook's ankle as Bournemouth failed to clear a free-kick from Wayne Rooney that initally went straight into the defensive wall.

Martyn Waghorn's follow up somehow bounced around the penalty box and fell to Shinnie to lash home on the half-volley.

    QPR 0-0 Cardiff

Early chance for QPR to take the lead.

Albert Adomah is played through and has a shot on goal but is denied by Cardiff keeper Alex Smithies who tips it over brilliantly.

Incidentally QPR are not in their traditional blue and white hoops today. They are donning a new 1975/76 inspired red and white limited-edition third kit.

  3. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 15:12 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2020

    Stoke City 0-0 Rotherham United

Rotherham think they have an early lead against Stoke, but it's chalked off for offside.

Michael Ihiekwe swept it in after a nicely-worked free-kick from Daniel Barlaser, but the centre-back had strayed beyond the last man before Florian Jozefzoon's cross.

    Luton 0-0 Brentford

Both sides have had half-chances from crosses at Kenilworth Road.

Ethan Pinnock has headed over for Brentford while Luton centre-back Sonny Bradley's volley is blocked and ends in the hands of David Raya.

  5. goal

GOAL: Barnsley 1-0 Watfordpublished at 15:08 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2020

    Alex Mowatt (6 mins)

Barnsley lead and it's an absolute beauty.

The Yorkshire side win the ball high and Alex Mowatt whacks one in off the post from 25 yards after a dribble forward.

Valerien Ismael is hitting the ground running as Barnsley boss.

  6. Postpublished at 15:07 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2020

    Wycombe 0-0 Sheff Wed

'The Beast' Adebayo Akinfenwa is starting for Wycombe and he's already making his presence known in the Wednesday area - Callum Paterson having to defend well to keep him quiet from a free-kick.

The Owls are bottom on -4 points after their points deduction while Wycombe have one point from eight matches - claimed against Watford in midweek.

  7. goal

GOAL: Preston 0-1 Birmingham Citypublished at 15:04 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2020

    Riley McGree (2 mins)

First goal in the 10 Championship fixtures kicking off at 15:00 GMT comes at Deepdale and goes to Birmingham City.

Australian Riley McGree with it, his first for the club since joning on loan as Preston fail to clear a chance that initally went Jonathan Leko and Lukas Jutkiewicz's way.

McGree sweeps home low as he raced on to a loose ball on the edge of the penlaty box.

  8. Early resultspublished at 15:03 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2020

FT: Gillingham 0-2 Sunderland; Exeter 1-0 Carlisle

The two 13:00 GMT kick-offs in League One and League Two are now finished.

Late goals from Chris Maguire and Lyndon Gooch gave Sunderland victory at 10-man Gillingham, while Tom Parkes' early second-half strike was enough for Exeter to beat 10-man Carlisle.

Right then - not long to go until we get started for the main course of this afternoon's EFL entertainment.

As earlier, a lot of games will observe a minute's silence before kick-off due to being their last home matches before Remembrance Sunday and also in honour of Nobby Stiles, who passed away yesterday aged 78.

In the afternoon's other games in the Championship, Middlesbrough can move into the top six with a win against stuttering Nottingham Forest at the Riverside.

Brentford will hope to shake off a defeat and a draw in their past two matches when they travel to Luton while two slow starters in QPR and Cardiff City meet at Loftus Road.

Up at Deepdale, two sides locked on 10 points from eight games in Preston and Birmingham City will be keen for victory and Stoke host Rotherham at the Bet365 Stadium.

Gareth Ainsworth's side finally got themselves off the mark with a 1-1 draw against Watford on Wednesday.

They almost claimed all three points but had a late winner ruled out for a foul.

This afternoon, they face a side still below them despite having registered two more victories in their opening eight matches.

Ainsworth will be resting up at home for this one as he recovers from back surgery. Richard Dobson takes charge of the Chairboys in his absence.

Sheffield Wednesday are still four points in arrears after beginning the campaign on -12.

A win for the Owls this afternoon would reduce that to -1 but of more immediate concern will be that they arrive at Adams Park on a run of three straight defeats.

  13. 'Who's in charge today then?'published at 14:49 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2020

Millwall v Huddersfield Town (15:00 GMT)

    Alex PearceImage source, Rex Features

Millwall have had to deal with a fair amount of Covid-19-related disruption around their squad in recent weeks.

First manager Gary Rowett tested positive and was made to self-isolate missing three matches, of which today's visit of Huddersfield is set to be the last.

Then two more first-team coaches also tested positive, forcing the entirety of the senior coaching staff to self-isolate.

That meant under 23s boss Kevin Nugent, player-coach Shaun Williams and club captain Alex Pearce (pictured above) were handed the "managerial reins" for a trip to Preston.

They oversaw a 2-0 win and will continue to be "in charge" this afternoon.

Victory would also potentially move them into the top two to maintain an otherwise impressive start to this season.

    Barnsley v Watford (15:00 GMT)

    Valerien IsmailImage source, Rex Features

Barnsley made a strong start to life under new boss Valerien Ismael on Tuesday with a much-needed 3-0 win against QPR.

It was a first win of the campaign in Ismael's first match in full charge and today they lock horns with Watford who they have not met in a competitive encounted in six years.

The Hornets have made a solid start under a new manager of their own in Vladimir Ivic. A win today could move them second depending on results elsewhere while they also arrive at Oakwell on a four-match unbeaten run.

  15. Sunderland go in frontpublished at 14:45 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2020

    Gillingham 0-1 Sunderland

Chris Maguire has just given Sunderland the lead from the penalty spot at Gillingham on 83 minutes in League One.

In League Two Exeter are still 1-0 up against 10-man Carlisle.

Swansea City v Blackburn Rovers (15:00 GMT)

Steve Cooper and Jamal LoweImage source, PA Media

Another side making a solid, if unspectacular, start to this season are Swansea City.

Steve Cooper's team face Blackburn at the Liberty Stadium this afternoon, a side who are the division's top scorers so far with 18.

But Tony Mowbray's men are lacking the consistency Swansea have so far demonstrated with three defeats in their past four games.

The latest of those came against leaders Reading on Tuesday where despite an Adam Armstrong brace, they shipped four goals at the other end.

Swansea meanwhile are unbeaten in their past three, including a 2-0 victory against Stoke on Tuesday.

Bournemouth v Derby County (15:00 GMT)

    BournemouthImage source, Rex Features

An intriguing battle ahead this afternoon on the South Coast where Bournemouth will be looking to preserve the only remaining unbeaten record in the Championship.

What's more, another win for Jason Tindall's side would also take them to within three points of leaders Reading after their defeat by Coventry last night.

For Derby, consistency has completed evaded them so far this campaign with just the one win from eight games.

Wayne Rooney is back for the Rams having completed his self-isolation after coming into close contact with someone who tested positive for Covid-19.

The past 24 hours have also been dominated by potential takeover talk at Pride Park from a Middle East-based consortium.
