    What a start!

Bristol City take the lead after only two minutes as Chris Martin scores his first league goal for the club.

The Robins work the ball well to Antoine Semenyo on the byline and his low cross from the right is turned in from close range by experienced striker Martin.

At the risk of sounding like Ned Stark, but while absolutely hoping to avoid his fate, "winter is coming".

The journalists who were wearing shorts at games in July are now in winter coats and hats and it still freezing.

Is it an honour to be here? Absolutely. I know you'd love to swap places, so I'm not grumbling, but it's certainly a night for thermals.

Bristol City were one of just three visiting teams who won in the Championship at the Cardiff City Stadium last season.

No second-tier side lost fewer home league games than the Bluebirds in 2019-20, yet they have already been beaten on their own patch twice this term.

Josh Brownhill's goal gave the Robins victory on this ground last season in what proved to be Neil Warnock's last game as Cardiff boss.

Neil Harris will be desperate to ensure there is no repeat of that result tonight with Cardiff trying to build momentum after they brushed Barnsley aside on Tuesday.

  9. Fatigue a factor?published at 17:50 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2020

It is still early in the season, but could fatigue be a factor in tonight's game?

Cardiff manager Neil Harris says coronavirus has had an impact on the Championship, with all teams being affected by a shortened pre-season and the hectic fixture schedule.

Cardiff's ex-Robins midfielder Marlon Pack echoed his manager's call for five substitutes to be permitted in the EFL, as they were at the back-end of last season.

Given that both sides played only three days ago, energy levels may well play a part tonight.

Bristol City make two changes to the side which won 2-1 at Huddersfield, with two players who made an impact from the bench in midweek coming into Dean Holden's starting side.

Jamie Paterson and Antoine Semenyo are recalled as Tommy Rowe and Chris Brunt drop to the bench, while forward Famara Diedhiou does not feature after the Robins revealed he has tested positive for Covid-19.

Bristol City: Bentley, Hunt, Vyner, Kalas, Dasilva, Nagy, O’Dowda, Paterson, Martin, Semenyo, Wells.

Subs: O’Leary, Moore, Edwards, Towler, Rowe, Brunt, Massengo.

Cardiff boss Neil Harris makes just one change to the side which started against Barnsley on Tuesday, with Sheyi Ojo in for Robert Glatzel.

That probably means a switch from 4-4-2 to a 4-2-3-1 system, with Ojo, Junior Hoilett and Harry Wilson playing off Kieffer Moore.

Cardiff: Smithies, Bacuna, Morrison, Nelson, Bennett, Pack, Ralls, Ojo, Wilson, Hoilett, Moore.

Subs: Phillips, Bamba, Bagan, Vaulks, Whyte, Muprhy, Glatzel.

  12. Hello and welcomepublished at 17:43 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2020

Cardiff v Bristol City (18:00 GMT)

    Good evening!

We have some Friday night Championship football to enjoy and not only that, it's a derby.

Rivals from either of the side Severn meet at in the Welsh capital as Cardiff City take on Bristol City.

Having banked a much-needed first home win of the season against Barnsley on Tuesday, Cardiff will be looking to repeat the trick this evening.

But they take on a Bristol City side whose spirits have been lifted by a notable 2-1 away success at Huddersfield in midweek which end a five-game winless run.

Another victory tonight would see the Robins climb to second in the table, while a Bluebirds win would see them jump from 13th to eighth.
