Sho: I know it's very early on but I gotta say I worry for Van De Beek already because if he can't get in the team given our current form, you have to wonder why he's even here. He's too good to be a squad player.

Seth: Ole did well in the 2nd half of last season with a front 3 of Martial, Rashford and Greenwood. Granted, he didn't have all 3 for all matches so far, but with Cavani available, he should have started him in that front 3. Still, I expect a win today.

RegularJon: Resigned to the fact we’ll probably lose again today. Attack has suffered from not being able to start Martial, Greenwood alongside Rashford every game, was so good end of last season. Defence... LOL nothing more to say. Mata over VDB? Shocking.

Michael Reid: Awful line-up from united today. Just cannot see how Fred and McTominay can win a battle against a 3-man midfield of Doucoure, Allan and Sigurdsson. Should have stuck with the diamond.

Everton v Man Utd (12:30 GMT)

    Alistair Magowan
    BBC Sport at Goodison Park

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti added a dose of realism to questions about his Manchester United counterpart Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at his press conference yesterday.

The Italian has seen it all before of course, and said he had sympathy for managers, but added that the "pressure was a privilege."

"There is more pressure on people who have to wake up at four in the morning and go to work."

    Well said.

Everton are in need of a win themselves.

After winning their first four matches of the season, Carlo Ancelotti's side have failed to win any of their subsequent three (D1, L2).

But victory for the Toffees today will take them back to the top of the table, above surprise league leaders Southampton.

A day for fingerless gloves as the chill whips in off the Irish Sea at Goodison, but which way will the wind blow for under-fire Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer?

Today is Solskjaer's 102nd game in charge, with former manager Louis van Gaal lasting 103 games before he was given the boot.

Back in 2016, an FA Cup win two days prior couldn't save the Dutchman. If recent events are anything to go by at Old Trafford, when your time is up, your time is up. But there is no suggestion from the club that Solskjaer is on his way out. Yet.

It seems Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is always two winless games away from a crisis and talk of Mauricio Pochettino pops up again.

But a quick look at his record compared to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp after 100 games in charge of their respective sides proves interesting reading.

    Klopp: W 50 D 29 L 21 F 182 A 108 Points: 179

    Solskjaer: W 55 D 21 L 24 F 181 A 100 Points: 186

The question is though, is the Norwegian making progress and should he be given more time?

Everton v Man Utd (12:30 GMT)

    Jermaine Jenas
Ex-Tottenham and Newcastle midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

"I feel sorry for Ole at times. There are too many in that dressing room that think 'I'm quite happy, I'm on a load of money'. Do they really care about Ole losing his job or not? I'm not sure they do. They will play certain games and perform in certain games because they know they are on the world stage and the eyes are on them.

"I don't feel they are doing it for Manchester United. I don't feel like they are doing it so their manager keeps hold of his job.

"Right now I see too many players in that group who I feel are just not that bothered. It's hard to say they don't care, because of course they care. I think there's probably a few of them who will think: "If it doesn't work out here I'll just go to PSG or Bayern or Real'. That's what their mindset is unfortunately."

    Only one place to start...

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still believes he is the right man to change the fortunes at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer has been under huge pressure after successive defeats, including Wednesday's Champions League loss to Istanbul Basaksehir.

United play Everton today and some media reports claim a heavy defeat will see him lose his job.

"If I don't trust my beliefs and values, who else will?" he said. "I don't look at one or two results and fall like a house of cards."

When David Moyes returned to former club Everton as Manchester United manager in 2014, the grim reaper looked on as the visitors suffered defeat at Goodison Park.

It proved to be the death of Moyes' short reign at United, being sacked two days later.

History may well repeat itself over the course of the next 48 hours, with incumbent Ole Gunnar Solskjaer under huge pressure and a third straight loss could lead to those obituaries being written for Monday morning.
