Not certain why Ederson rushes out of his box there when Aymeric Laporte has it under control. The French defender is surprised to see his keeper probably and kicks it out of play.

    Man City 0-0 Liverpool

It's quite a statement to go to Manchester City and play four up front.

What a start - this formation is more like a 4-2-4 for Liverpool. They are so aggressive - when Liverpool have got possession comfortably they've got four up top.

    Man City 0-0 Liverpool

Now Raheem Sterling skips past a Reds defender but can't find Gabriel Jesus in the centre.

The Reds break and Mohamed Salah has a chance and then Roberto Firmino's shot is blocked.

Kevin de Bruyne tries to find Gabriel Jesus with a through-ball but it's cut out by Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Both sides are seeing plenty of the ball so far.

    Man City 0-0 Liverpool

Almost an early chance for Liverpool - about 50 seconds in. Roberto Firmino chases a long ball over the top and Ederson rushes out to the edge of his box and just about puts off his fellow Brazilian.

Liverpool's defence has been much better since Alisson returned in goal, but they will always allow sides some opportunities because they are so attack-minded themselves.

City have their own vulnerabilities at the back for similar reasons, and I don't think they are anywhere near their brilliant best going forward either, despite winning their past three games.

I was at the Etihad on Tuesday for BBC Radio 5 Live alongside John Murray, who was spot on when he said that City did against Olympiakos what they have done in most games this season - which is make a really strong start and smother teams for 20 minutes or so, but then drop off.

There are doubts over Liverpool too, even if I did see their 7-2 defeat by Aston Villa as just a really bad day at the office and, when you put all of that together, this game feels far less decisive than some of their recent meetings.

In November last year, Liverpool beat City at Anfield in what was seen as a huge step towards them winning the title, and not just because it saw them open up a nine-point lead over their biggest rivals after winning 11 of their first 12 games.

  11. 'We know we won't always have it all our own way'published at 16:24 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November 2020

    Leicester 1-0 Wolves

    Leicester City

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers speaking to Sky Sports: "Everything about the game was very, very good and should have been more than one goal up. We had to show resilience in the second half when Wolves had more of the ball. Kapser [Schmeichel] made an amazing save and Harvey [Barnes] misses a chance to close the game out. Nine wins out of 11 shows the mentality of the team. Our football was outstanding against a very good side.

"If you think of the games we've had, we know sometimes we have to show that [defensive resilience]. You're not always going to have it all your own way. The more we work together the more we are able to deal with that pressure."

On his side's first penalty: "I haven't seen it back and I think there's so many disputes now about the handball rule and whether it's in a natural or unnatural position or not. But we got the penalty and took it well.

"I think we had real challenge in this first part of the season with the players we had out, so to win nine of 11 in all competitions - the team have been fantastic. We had to show different sides to our game today and thankfully we've come through."

Mohamed Salah has scored 80 Premier League goals in 115 games since his Liverpool debut in 2017, nine more than any other top-flight player during that period.

But he doesn't always fare well in the games against their top-six rivals...

Manchester City have won their last three home league games against Liverpool by an aggregate score of 11-1.

They can win consecutive top-flight matches against Liverpool for the first time since a run of four victories between 1935 and 1937.

Man City v Liverpool (16:30 GMT)

    Guy Mowbray
    Match of the Day commentator

The (almost) undisputed top two teams in the country are both hitting form after below-par starts to their seasons - with a few other similarities along the way.

Both have won three out of three in the Champions League and, whilst City are unbeaten in eight games since conceding an infamous five at home to Leicester City, Liverpool haven't lost in six since shipping a far from magnificent seven at Aston Villa.

The men in charge each have welcome "problems" to think about in attack, too.

Pep Guardiola has Gabriel Jesus back fit and ready to take over from Ferran Torres, who's proved himself able cover as a central striker.

Jurgen Klopp has Diogo Jota absolutely flying, and arguably a better current bet than Roberto Firmino - although what Firmino brings to his fabled front three has always been about more than scoring himself.

They could move eight points ahead this time - or City could move within two having played a game fewer.

It's too close to call, too early to tell…..and too good to miss!

  16. 'We expect fair decisions'published at 16:17 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November 2020

    FT: Leicester 1-0 Wolves

    Wolves

Wolves boss Nuno Espírito Santo, speaking to Sky Sports: "The first half and the beginning were difficult but in the second half we were much better.

"What we expect is consistent decisions and fair decisions. VAR is happening all over the Premier League."

On the first penalty: "The ref saw it but I don't know. These situations are difficult to analyse. We were penalised but we reacted well.

"What we want are consistent decisions. I honestly trust the referees to make best decisions."

    Leicester 1-0 Wolves

    Wolves

Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo to BBC Sport: "I'm pleased with the way we were organised in some moments but not the mistakes we made in defence. We improved a lot and in the second half we were dominant to create situations for Leicester."

On Leicester's first penalty: "I didn't see the image on the screen but VAR is the same - we expect consistent and fair decisions but VAR can go both ways and it is happening all over the Premier League.

"In the second half we dominated the game and moved the ball well and we had some chances. Not enough as we would wish but we had situations where we felt the draw was there.

"The boys worked hard and Leicester are a very good team. Until the end they showed character."

  18. 'This should be a fantastic game'published at 16:15 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November 2020

Man City v Liverpool (16:30 GMT)

    Robbie Savage
Ex-Wales midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Both line-ups will be aggressive in the final third, so many brilliant players on display. Diogo Jota earned his right to be in the side - everybody said will he replace Roberto Firmino but Jurgen Klopp has gone for that 4-2-3-1 formation. So excited to watch that - the emphasis on Georginio Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson today is huge. Protecting the two centre-halves because the way Liverpool play with that front four with the full-backs pushing so high, I wonder how Kevin de Bruyne will exploit that space down the channels. It should be a great game, cannot wait to see these two amazing sides.
