  2. 'We did enough to win it'published at 18:47 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2020

    Chelsea 0-0 Tottenham

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard, speaking to Sky Sports: "It went as I sort of expected. I thought we'd have a lot of possession. We created enough to win the game. The clean sheet factor against a side set up to counter-attack - that was excellent. We didn't give Kane or Son a sniff. Goalkeeper makes a great save from Mason Mount.

"Oli Giroud gets his chance. He won us the game midweek and is the man you want is those positions so I can't be too critical. We dominated the game possession wise. This Tottenham team make it hard for you so the way we handled it was brilliant.

"In the end of the season it will all come together on if this was a good point or not. I am happy with the clean sheet but in actual game play we should win it. The players did everything I asked from them but we didn't get that last bit.

"Another day, with the attacking players we have. Sometimes you need a bit of magic from your creative players. The handbrake was a tiny but up but in a good way."

Some very sad news to bring this evening.

It has been confirmed that former Fulham, Portsmouth, West Ham and Birmingham midfielder Papa Bouba Diop has died, aged 42.

The defensive midfielder, nicknamed "the wardrobe", was one of the stars of Senegal's memorable 2002 World Cup run, including scoring the goal in the opening match that defeated holders France.

He moved to England in 2004 when he joined Fulham and was a key player for the Cottagers as they established themselves as Premier League regulars.

Gregory Whitehead, LFC: Fear not rest of the league! We've got this! Jose's anti-football won't get the reward it so ill deserves...

Dave, North Wales, Spurs fan: If anyone saId at the beginning of the season that Spurs would hammer Man Utd 6-2 away then beat Man City 2-0 then go to Chelsea get a point and keep a clean sheet and be top of the table the men in the white coats would come round with a straitjacket for you.

Dave, Reading: JM will murder the game playing 'no risk' football. What a contrast to Leeds. Any manager could do what he does -8 man defence but choose to play to outscore the opponent.

I agree with Garett there. I didn't see anything there to suggest Spurs aren't proper title challengers. They have scored 21 goals this season, only lost once, and ground out a draw away against another title contender.

Paul Collins: Spurs top on goal difference, same points as liverpool. all this proves is that for all the Injuries liverpool are having no other team is actually better than them regardless in terms of points. liverpool will get their Injured players back and will win PL again.

Mark, Spurs fan: Re: Woody, 18.06. Better than we think we are? Played Man City, Man Utd and Chelsea, as well as an excellent Southampton side. Top of the league. I'll take that!

Garett T Switzer: At the risk of expressing the most unpopular opinion on this thread, this is the kind of performance Spurs need to win the league. Take three points from lower teams, take one point from the top four. Might be the formula that does it this year.

    FT: Chelsea 0-0 Spurs

    Chelsea

Chelsea full-back Ben Chilwell, speaking to Sky Sports: "The game was on a knife-edge. I think both sides were tactically pretty good so we're happy with the clean sheet.

"When you’ve got a strikeforce like they have, we as defenders have to concentrate for the whole 90 minutes and the clean sheet was very important.

"Points are crucial and neither team wanted to give the other side any points. We’d have loved to win the game at Stamford Bridge against our rivals but we needed to keep a clean sheet."

Tottenham defender Joe Rodon, speaking to Sky Sports: "It is a tough place to come. To make my debut [first Premier League start] is a dream come true. Hopefully I can learn from this. They are a good opposition and I was in for a tough night.

"It is a massive game and you are playing against top players. Mistakes happen but I will learn from them.

"We always want to go into every game for three points. Sometimes you need to dig in and take a point."

Ian Hobart: Guessing a lot of the negative comments are coming from Utd/City/Arsenal fans - that these 2 teams are tital contenders? What does that say about their own teams...?!?

Lee: Moan, moan, moan... Both sides are at the top the table and don't want to drop crucial points. So yes, this isn't a classic, but no-one is forcing you to watch it!

Two teams that are fighting for the Premier League title showed their qualities today.

Defensively both teams did well, they cancelled each other out.

Tactically, Jose Mourinho got it spot on. All in all, 0-0 is the right result.
