GOAL - West Ham 2-1 Aston Villapublished at 21:04 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2020

    Jarrod Bowen (46 mins)

What a start to the half - again!

West Ham scored in the second minute and now they've scored right at the start of the second as well. Said Benrahma gets an assist with his first touch, whipping in a cross from the left and Jarrod Bowen is there just ahead of Seb Haller, to flick a header into the corner.

If West Ham are going to have more possession they need to go forward with more purpose. The way they've had success is playing at a high tempo when they have the ball.

Other than their goal there's been little from them offensively and they've struggled with the movement of Aston Villa.

West Ham had just 40% of the ball in that first half despite their early dominance. David Moyes may have to change things up if he's to turn this back his way.

  6. 'Villa look a good bet at the moment'published at 20:51 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2020

HT: West Ham 1-1 Aston Villa

    Matt Upson
Former England and West Ham defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

West Ham were delighted to get off to a good start, good set pieces, good delivery and a good header. Aston Villa were caught on their heels and not really ready to defend properly. But since then it has been Villa's show, they've had good possession of the ball and really controlled the game.

They've got the ball to players in areas of the pitch like Jack Grealish laying in Matt Targett or John McGinn trying to play it into the front, Ollie Watkins has been a constant threat, on the move all the time. They're looking a good bet at the moment.

Leicester really dropped the ball there. They would have been level on points with the leaders with a win - as it stands they are just two ahead of Villa and three ahead of West Ham.

  8. 'We lacked quality'published at 20:49 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2020

    FT: Leicester 1-2 Fulham

    Leicester City

Leicester midfielder James Maddison, speaking to Sky Sports: “We lacked a bit of quality. Fulham sat in and gave us a lot of the ball but we found it hard to create good chances. They got a goal on the break and a penalty and it gave us too much to do.

“We’ve played the system they did tonight when we went to Man City and Arsenal - soak up the pressure and then break with front players that have speed. We left a lot of space and became vulnerable but we need to become better at dealing with that.

“These are games we need to be winning if we want to go to the next level. We should be blowing teams away but we didn’t do that today.

“The schedule is hard but we’re in Europe and that’s what we want. I’m not going to moan about the games we're playing and that wasn’t the reason for the result tonight. It was the lack of quality we showed.”

Not there Tyrone! Mings loses the ball just outside his own penalty area and Jarrod Bowen has a shot deflected away. West Ham whip the corner in but this time a Villa head rises to meet it.

  11. CLOSE!published at 43 mins

    West Ham 1-1 Aston Villa

You don't get much closer than that...Conor Hourihane whips the free-kick into the side netting. It makes Kevin Nolan jump from his seat in the Hammers dugout.

We soldier on. I've done a game in a power cut since lockdown, I'm sure we can cope without a laptop.

Villa now win a free-kick in another dangerous area. West Ham aren't happy with referee Peter Bankes.

Villa are yet to draw a game in the league this season and they are very nearly in front now! Lovely interplay between Trezeguet and John McGinn, the ball pops up for the winger but Ollie Watkins takes it off him and duffs his shot down into the turf, it's heading in...

'DeflectedScreamer' is a good name for a racehorse. Jack Grealish does what he does best, winning a free-kick wide left to the annoyance of Vladimir Coufal. Conor Hourihane's delivery is top notch but West Ham deal with it.

Jack Grealish of course scored the key goal at this ground on the last day of last season which kept Villa up. That feels a lifetime ago but it was probably only a few months.

  20. 'Super strike from Grealish'published at 20:30 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2020

    West Ham 1-1 Aston Villa

    Matt Upson
Former England and West Ham defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

What a strike that is. Brilliant from Jack Grealish, super right foot. Really thumps it with a bit of a dip to the keeper's right across the goal. He comes inside to receive the ball. It takes a real deflection looking at the replay, it had a real loop to it but it just goes off one of the defenders' feet. Nevertheless he's really shown the intent to do that, he's been very aggressive with his first touch all evening so far. He's just got a big reward for it.
