That was half a chance there. There's been a nice tempo to the game so far and I think that suits Celtic. They like to play quick up to Edouard so he can link the play.

It’s a high-energy start from Celtic in terms of pressing the ball when Sparta have it. As the visitors haven’t been playing any football lately due to Covid issues in the Czech Republic, with the exception of the two heavy Europa League defeats by Lille and AC Milan, Neil Lennon seems keen for his men to exploit any rustiness Sparta might have on top of being depleted due to the virus and some injuries.

Ryan Christie flicks the ball on for Jeremie Frimpong to thunder down the right before the full-back's cross is cleared for a corner.

Odsonne Edouard has to shoot there, I know it's on his left foot but as soon as he cuts back the chance is gone.

  10. CLOSE!published at 8 mins

    Celtic 0-0 Sparta Prague

Fit-again Odsonne Edouard spurns a great chance to shoot as he turns back inside. allowing Sparta Prague to recover and repel the danger.

You'd imagine Edouard on top form would hit that first time to test the goalkeeper.

  11. Rogic looks in the moodpublished at 7 mins

    Celtic 0-0 Sparta Prague

Celtic look more menacing in an attacking sense with Tom Rogic in midfield. And the Australian shows clever dancing feet to wheel away from two Sparta Prague players to set up an attack. It fizzles out but he looks in the mood.

    Celtic v Sparta Prague (20:00)

Celtic's loss of three players - now returned from self-isolation - through Covid-19 pales into insignificance compared to Sparta's problems.

They had won seven games in a row before play was suspended in the Czech Republic because of the rise in cases in their homeland.

Shorn of match practice, they have suffered two chastening defeats in the Europa League - 4-1 at home to Lille and 3-0 away to AC Milan.

Celtic, meanwhile, ended their own run of four games without a win by easing aside Aberdeen 2-0 in Sunday's delayed 2019-20 Scottish Cup semi-final.

    Celtic v Sparta Prague (20:00)

While Celtic are unchanged, only four players retain their places in the Sparta starting line-up that lost 3-0 away to AC Milan last week after Vaclav Kotal's Covid-hit squad was hit by further bouts of illness and injury.

In particular, they have problems in goal, with first-choice Milan Heca and Dominik Holec not being able to travel and Florin Nita, who has two caps for Romania, starting.

However, on-loan Fiorentina centre-half David Hancko returns from injury to make his first appearance of the season, while fellow defender Dominik Plechaty overcomes a knock to make a surprise start, which means Ondrej Celutska, who played against Scotland for Czech Republic the other week, drops to the bench.

Captain and Czech Republic international Borek Dockal, often their creative force in midfield, can only make the bench as 17-year-old Adam Karabec starts along with Sweden winger David Moberg Karlsson, who had a loan spell with Kilmarnock from Sunderland back in 2014.

Principal attacking threat Lukas Julis is one of those to keep his place.
