  1. Thank you and see you Wednesdaypublished at 19:30 Greenwich Mean Time 15 November 2020

FT: Wales 1-0 Republic of Ireland

So that's us done then, for a few days at least, before the Nations League finale on Wednesday.

Both games between Wales and the Republic of Ireland were close affairs that could have gone either way, but Wales are definitely making a habit out of winning narrow matches at the moment.

Going over 700 minutes without conceding is no mean feat either, with World Cup finalists Croatia the last side to breach Wales, over a year ago!

Wales are 10 unbeaten and a draw with Finland on Wednesday will be enough to clinch promotion.

Ireland will need to avoid defeat to Bulgaria to avoid relegation and should be encouraged by a performance that was far better than the one in the reverse fixture.

Thanks for following along with us, have a nice few days and we will see you again on Wednesday.

  2. Kenny finds positives despite disappointing defeatpublished at 19:26 Greenwich Mean Time 15 November 2020

FT: Wales 1-0 Republic of Ireland

Republic of Ireland manager Stephen Kenny told Sky Sports: "I think the mentality of the players was really good, the work rate and intensity was pretty good overall too.

"Wales are a strong team but there weren't many chance in the game, we probably had more before they scored.

"The difference between us and Wales is they are finding ways of winning and we are not.

"But there are a lot of good points about our performance today."

  3. Page pleased to finish 'battle' with victorypublished at 19:21 Greenwich Mean Time 15 November 2020

FT: Wales 1-0 Republic of Ireland

Wales assistant manager Robert Page told Sky Sports: "We've spoken in previous camps about having a 'Plan B' and we've got that in our armoury.

"From what I've seen in training all week I was disappointed at half-time, some sloppiness at times, but we kept going right to the bitter end.

"We could have had another couple after the goal but credit to Ireland, they gave us a battle and we had to match them in every department.

"(David) Brooks was the last person I'd have expected to be heading the ball in inside the six-yard box but we'll take it."

  4. Change to familiar tactics worked - Balepublished at 19:18 Greenwich Mean Time 15 November 2020

FT: Wales 1-0 Republic of Ireland

Wales captain Gareth Bale told Sky Sports: "We were all focused on today, we knew Ireland would make it difficult for us and we didn't do enough in the first half.

"Sometimes in football tactics don't work as you hope but we went back to something we were familiar with and it worked.

"David Brooks has closed his eyes but as long as it goes in that is what counts.

"We're confident, we're in a good vein of form but we will be ready for Wednesday and hopefully we can get the job done."

  5. Defeat 'hard to take' - Bradypublished at 19:11 Greenwich Mean Time 15 November 2020

FT: Wales 1-0 Republic of Ireland

Republic of Ireland's Robbie Brady told Sky Sports: "We were a lot more positive than the other night, we created a few chances early on but we're still waiting for one to go in.

"It's a hard one to take, since Stephen Kenny has come in we have created chances but we are missing that final touch.

"It's a massive game on Wednesday against Bulgaria now."

FT: Wales 1-0 Republic of Ireland

Wales goal scorer David Brooks told Sky Sports: "It was a tough first half, they set up how we thought they would but we couldn't get that final ball.

"We will have to be more positive in the next game but overall we deserved to win.

"When Kieffer came on, he's a big man, and he occupied the two centre halves and I've just closed my eyes and nodded it in.

"When we started the group we were looking to top it and nothing has changed."
