It remains a surreal experience to hear national anthems belted out to empty stadiums.

I can't speak for you, but the thought of returning to a full football stadium in 2021 is one that fills my heart with joy and head with hope.

    I really, really miss it.

Goals might well be at a premium today.

We know that Wales and the Republic of Ireland are familiar foes; this will be their sixth meeting since 2017.

And apart from Wales' 4-1 thrashing of the Irish in 2018, the other four games have produced just two goals.

They are low-scoring teams when they're kept apart too.

Wales have scored one goal in their past four matches in all competitions, while their three wins and a draw in this Nations League campaign have yielded only three goals.

As for the Republic of Ireland, they've scored a mere two goals in eight Nations League matches. Under Stephen Kenny, they've scored just one goal in six games.

So in case anyone was hoping for a goalfest, this is just a gentle reminder of how unlikely that might be.

If you're planning a bit of a juggling act to keep on top of all the day's main events, you're not alone.

The final round at Augusta will be a big talking point among the Wales squad, which includes several big golf fans.

Chief among them is, of course, Gareth Bale, known to his Real Madrid team-mates as 'The Golfer'. And who could forget the 'Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order' flag?

Another avid golf fan in Wales' ranks is Chris Gunter. Wales' most-capped man explains here.

Republic of Ireland midfielder Alan Browne has tested positive for coronavirus having played against England on Thursday.

Preston's Browne, 25, played the full 90 minutes of his side's 3-0 defeat at Wembley Stadium.

The Football Association of Ireland said he had "no close contacts" and all other players and staff have tested negative.

He obviously misses tonight's game and Wednesday's visit of Bulgaria.

Gareth Bale is back in the Wales team and he's back in love with football, according to Robert Page.

Wales' assistant coach, who's in charge this month, has been talking about how Bale's return to Tottenham has reinvigorated the 31-year-old.

"He loves coming away with Wales. He absolutely loves it," said Page.

"We've now got a player on our hands that has fallen back in love with the game and is enjoying his football. Hopefully we will reap the rewards of that as well."

As the Nations League group stages come to an end, what's at stake for the various teams involved?

Wales are looking to win Group B4, which would earn promotion to the top tier of the Nations League.

It's also worth noting the two highest-ranking group winners not to secure a spot for the 2022 World Cup or play-offs through regular qualifying will earn a play-off place.

Finishing bottom of a group in the top two leagues means relegation. Republic of Ireland are currently one point clear of Group B4's bottom side Bulgaria.

So who needs what from their final two games - and whose fate is already sealed? BBC Sport has this handy piece to explain.

  18. It's Wales v Republic of Ireland... again!published at 16:20 Greenwich Mean Time 15 November 2020

Wales v Republic of Ireland (17:00 GMT)

    Good afternoon and welcome.

It's Nations League time again as we continue this bonkers season with game after game after game.

Wales and the Republic of Ireland have differing aims in this Group 4B qualifier with the hosts aiming for promotion and a possible World Cup play-off place and the visitors looking to avoid relegation.

The stage is set for yet other match between these two nations.

If this season feels relentless, to be honest, the same can be said for this fixture.

Wales and the Republic of Ireland only played each other 13 times in over half a century between 1960 and 2016, but this will be the sixth competitive fixture between these sides in the past 1,332 days.

Neither side should be much of a mystery to the other.

Let's have a look at the team news, shall we?
